What are some tips for editing digital photos? Digital photos are not to the point that they can be just as amazing looking as the best 35 mm pictures. However it does sometimes take some work to get it right.

Here are some tips that should help you edit your digital photos, to get them the way you want them. No more fuzzy pictures. The, what is that dot? Question is no longer there! Finally red eye ruining the perfect picture; this is not going to happen. These tips should help you out.

Tip #1

Do as little as possible with the picture, in order to get it the way you want. The reason is that each time you change a digital picture; it takes some of the data information away. See with pictures that will be posted on the Internet, or just emailed, it really is no big deal. However, if you plan on printing these pictures, it will make a difference in the quality of the picture you receive.

Tip #2

Before you edit anything, make a copy of the original photo. This way you are editing the copy, not the original. If you screw up, you can always start over with another copy.

Tip #3

There are some basics to keep in mind when you are editing a digital picture.

  1. Is the picture blurry? Does sharpening bring a more beautiful picture to view? However keep in mind that blurry sometimes brings the mood of the picture right where you want it.
  2. Does the picture express the emotion you are looking for? Will cropping out the parts of the picture that are not what the picture is about help bring out what you want the picture to portray?
  3. When adjusting the exposure, by either adding more light or taking light away, use this feature wisely. This is the same with color adjustments. It is important not to over do it, or the picture will appear false.
  4. If the picture is tilted or unleveled, it is a good idea to adjust that to fit correctly.
Tip #4

Do not delete a picture, until you are sure you cannot use any part of the picture. The reason is that many times, there is a good picture hidden inside the other picture.

Tip #5

Using good photo editing software is a must. There is so much better out there compared to what is available with your digital camera.

Learn as much as you can about digital photography, taking the best pictures and the programs that are used to do this.

Use different types of photo styles to create awesome pictures with simple editing. Selective focus is a good example of this. This happens when the subject is taking the picture of is in focus, and the rest of the objects around the subject are not.

This process is completed, by knowing the principals of depth of field, which is the distance that is in the front of the subject, and the distance in back.

There are several different ways to learn about these techniques of photography. Even the most novices of photographers can take awesome pictures that take little editing.
