When you consider choosing a telephone recorder, there are a few things that need to be looked at. The following are the things to consider that will help you find the best telephone call recorder for you, no matter what your needs, tapping, extra security, or training, etc.:

What kind of phone you have: While there are several phone recorders out there and available for your use, there are some that work for the phone you have, and some that will not. So, what kind of phone do you have.a cell phone, a home phone, a cordless home phone, a multi-line phone system, etc.? Once you know narrow down what phone you need phone recording equipment for, then you can decide what phone recorder to purchase. For example, you do not want to buy a wall jack phone recorder that will not work for cordless phones if the majority of the phones on the line are cordless.

How many lines you want recorded: When you are choosing your telephone recorder you have to think about how many lines you are going to be recording. If you are only going to record on one line a cassette tape recorder might work well for you. However, if you are looking to record every call that comes into your busy customer call center, a multi-line call recorder that is digital is going to be a better choice.

If it has a backup power source: When you choose a telephone recorder, think about what you are using it for. If you are using it for spy purposes, then having a time when not all calls are being recorded could be detrimental to your goals. So, when considering a telephone recorder, look for one that has a backup power source. A backup power source is a good idea because it means that you never have lost conversations.

If it can be detected by the user: One thing you want to consider is whether or not someone can detect that the phone call is being recorded. You want to look for a phone call recorder that has no beeps, no clicks, no sounds that alert the person on the other end of the line that the conversation is being recorded. If you are using it for spy purposes this is a very important thing to consider. The truth is that if you are tapping phones, and the people whose phones are tapped realize it, you won't have very good results.

Digital or cassette: when looking for a phone recorder, you will want to consider whether a digital phone call recorder, or cassette phone call recorder is best for your situation. For example, if you are going to be recording multiple phone lines, a cassette tape recorder is not going to do you much good. If you need to be able to make multiple copies of a phone conversation, send it to someone easily, store it easily, or organize it easily, then a digital recorder might be your best bet. If your budget is your biggest concern, then a cassette tape recorder is going to work well for you. If you are not technologically inclined, a cassette tape recorder will likely work best for you.

As you can see the things you want to consider when choosing a telephone recorder are the features it offers in comparison to the things you need for your intended use. If your intended uses are minimal, then go for something simple and less expensive. If your intended use is more complicated like creating a better telephone training program, or recording teleseminars, then you will want to look for a higher end telephone recorder.
