But it's going to tell you a lot about me. Let me explain:

On a daily basis I am asked to contribute to the latest "How to Make Money Online" book. Sometimes the requests are a little odd.

The other day I was asked to write a couple pages about what my "typical day" looks like. I thought the request was interesting-but I never realized how much it would say about why you MUST have an internet business of your own.

So, I began looking at how I spend my days. (Stick with me here, you'll see my point in just a second.)

I get up between 4:30 and 5am. I don't use an alarm (haven't for 20 years), It's just when I get up.

I go for a walk, spend some time in spiritual contemplation, drink some coffee.

About 7am I turn on the news, eat some breakfast, plan out my day. I shower and dress then I am off to the office by 8am.

When I get to the office (it's close, sometimes I walk), I spend the first 15 minutes or so talking to my assistant Annette about what work needs to be accomplished that day. Then I get to work.

I try to study and write in the mornings, wrapping up by 11am. A few days a week I go to the gym at 9:30 or so, then back to work at 11.

I usually eat lunch at my desk.

Afternoons I spend on the phone or accomplishing the various tasks I need to get done on a daily basis. Occasionally a client will stop by the office for an appointment. I spend about an hour per day dealing with emails.

Around 4:30pm I check in with my part-time people and make sure they know what they need to accomplish.

I leave to get home by 5pm.

We're remodeling our farm, so most evenings each week I spend painting, sanding, installing and hitting my thumb with a hammer.

So why is this important to you? Simple:

I think my day sounds much like a typical work day for many people. But, there is one glaring difference: I am doing exactly what I want to do every day.

I want to have an office, but I don't have to. I could work at home if I chose to.

I don't have to get up at 5am. In fact, some days I don't. But it is what I want to do most days.

I'm not required to have employees. Or to work from 8am to 5pm. Or to work much at all.

But I enjoy what I do almost every day.

Not only that, but I have a bundle of other perks you would enjoy as well:

I don't owe anyone a dime. My business has more than paid for everything I do, everything I own.

I take vacations whenever I feel like it. We usually go as a family for a week or so every three months. We take an extended weekend trip to the mountains or a big city (weez country folks.) about once a month.

My time is my own. If I don't feel like doing something, I don't do it. I stay home when I want to, work when I want to, play when I want to.

I have real security. My income is not dependent upon the whims of a boss or company.

I get to buy my family the "toys" they want, not just the necessities.

But here is the most important perk of all:

I have peace of mind.
