Are you seeking smart business investments? The annual report is one of the best ways to determine how risky this investment is and if this is something you should consider investing in. The annual report provides great information about the company. It will show you about the financial status of the company and will help you to see how the company is spending their money and what they are doing to increase sales and strengthen the company.

What is an annual report exactly and how does it provide you with a look into the companies finance? An annual report will allow you to learn about finances of the company as they will provide all the information in a year-end report. You can predict what type of months they will have in the future along with how they will look into the future years to come.

How can you find the annual report? They are typically found on the company's website or you can also find them by calling the company and speaking with the investor relations department.

What are you looking for with an annual report? What type of information is included? Typically an annual report will begin by telling you about the company. This is a letter from the CEO of the company and they will tell you of the success they have had this past year. Some people like to include strategies for the next year and how they are planning to take the business to the next level and strengthen their investor's pocketbooks. If the company has had a less than successful year, the CEO may also state this in the letter and then they will provide information as to how they plan to move on from the hardships with the company.

This opening statement will tell you a lot about the management structure of the company. There are some companies out there that just do not seem to have strong managers. You want to seek out the companies that have a manager that is not only professional but one that seems to have a passion and a drive for their company.

After reading and evaluating the opening statement, the next section will cover all of the financial information about the company. This is where you will be able to gain insight into the actual business of the company like the products they sell along with what makes them stand out in their industry. Be careful when you are reading through this information as a lot of companies look at this as a marketing opportunity and they aren't always telling investors what they want to know. Instead they become very promotional with this information and it can leave you feeling a bit confused. Some of the things you should expect to see in the annual report will include the all of the accomplishments of the company but it will also include things like charitable work along with environmental practices that the company follows. As an investor, you won't get too much out of this section.

The section you want to focus on is the financial section. This will provide you with a summary of the company's expenses throughout the past year and it may also compare information from previous years as well. Look into the performance of the company's stock along with market valuation and the dividend payments in order to judge if this company is a good financial investment or not. The financial section is a look into the overall health and productivity of the company.

After this section you want to look for the "Report of Independent Auditors". This will allow you to see more information about the company's finances and to see an outside opinion about the company if there is any type of cause for concern with the company.
