Finding a way to quit smoking can be extremely difficult for someone who has already established the habit. Many people try several times to quit smoking and only fail because the habit is too strong. When everything else has failed to work, using hypnotherapy for smoking cessation has proven to have some very good results.Hypnotherapy puts a person into a drowsy state so that the hypnotherapist can connect with the inner state of mind. There are various stages of hypnotherapy to help the smoker lead themselves to a smoke free life.Let's take a closer look at using hypnotherapy for smoking cessation.

What is hypnotherapy?
For any smoker the decision to quite can be a painful one.Nicotine is probably one of the most difficult, powerful, and addictive substances out there. For most it is mind over body, so if they don't believe they can overcome the addiction it will never happen.Hypnosis is a process by which a person is placed into a drowsy state; not fully asleep and not fully awake. The hypnotherapist will then attempt to reach the subconscious of the patient and work on smoking cessation techniques with their subconscious rather than their conscious mind.

Stages of hypnosis
There are three stages in hypnotherapy that the smoker is required to go through. It must however it should always be done by a trained professional.

Stage 1:
During the first stage the hypnotist will make an effort to explain the harmful effects that smoking can and will have on your body. The hypnotherapist will also use some strategies to get him away from the smoking habit. The focus of this first stage is to help the patient understand that the smoking habit is bad for his body so that they will not want to repeat the behavior.

Stage 2:
The second stage is the actual hypnosis process. As the patient is taken into a drowsy state the hypnotherapist will then compare the cigarette to something by use of a simile; something undesirable. They will explain what the cigarette can do to their body and how harmful it will be if used and then they will be given different alternatives on getting rid of the harmful habit. This gives them the opportunity to choose and makes them responsible for their choice. The focus of this stage is to totally convince the smoker that they should quit the smoking habit by using the figurative speech.

Stage 3:
The first part of this stage is asking the patient to bring to memory how the smoking habit was actually started. Many smokers believe that they can do anything when they smoke because it makes them feel differently; more in control. While actually they are out of control of their bodies because they are being subject to a bad habit.During this stage the hypnotherapist will break the emotional attachment with the cigarette and succeeding. The patients mind should now be totally set against smoking; consciously and subconsciously. They will come to know that they can overcome the smoking habit with ease now that their mind is set against it.His mind is now the big object while the resistance to the cigarette is smaller ones that can be defeated.

When other efforts seem to fail using hypnotherapy for smoking cessation can really help turn this bad habit around. With mind of body techniques a smoker can begin to feel hopeful and experience success with kicking this bad habit.
