The Emotional Highs & Lows When Starting A Home Based Business

Keywords: Home Business

The emotional aspects of starting a home business can have you experiencing high highs and low lows. In addition to the immediate luxuries of being your own boss, setting your own working hours, and avoiding a stressful commute, there are also significant things on the other side of the ledger...starting and building a home business is not just an automatic trip to the promised land.

The need for self discipline is important...since you don't have a boss and a place to report for work, it is now up to you to schedule your time and perform productive tasks on your own.

Set actual work hours. Decide what hours you are going to work each day and stick to it as much as possible. This is one of the beautiful things about a home based business...you get to make this choice based upon your own personal situation for that particular day.

Make "to do" lists for each day. Then, as you complete the items, check them off the list. You can transfer anything you don't get done on a particular day to the next days list and make some notation so that you can see that it is a carryover from the previous day...however, remain constantly aware of the procrastination trap which leads you to keep putting things off until tomorrow. Hopefully, this will help you to stay organized and on task and allow you to make some real progress in developing your home based business.

Are You Starving Your Home Business Of Lifeblood?

Keywords: Home Business Success

If you've seen Kevin Costner's film the "Field of Dreams" you will remember how he was inspired to build a baseball field with the words "If you build it, they will come". He built the stadium, and with a little faith, streams of visitors were coming to see his dream.

Sorry to bring you back to the REAL world but this isn't "Field of Dreams" and you aren't Kevin Costner. If you want visitors to your dream website and you want some measure of success online, you need to take some important steps to do so.

Without a regular supply of leads to your business then you just aren't going to make it in internet business, period.

How on earth could you? It would be like setting up an offline business and expecting it to succeed without anyone picking up the phone to call you or walking in through your companies' front door.

Makes sense doesn't it? Of course it does but the majority of prospects I deal with respond with shock horror when I tell them that now that they have set up their business websites they will have to buy leads or work hard to obtain them.

Leads are the lifeblood of your business and a highly targeted prospect can be worth $1000s, especially if you are involved in network marketing.

Getting Started with an Online Business with No Money

Keywords: Online Business

If you want to get started with an online business without risking any money but you have time to spend then this report will show you one way to do that.

Basically the best way to earn without making any investment is to promote somebody else's product for commission and that is the method we will discuss today.

I will use our affiliate program in the example process that I outline below, we take affiliates from anywhere in the world and this process can be operated anywhere in the world. The process will work equally well with hundreds and thousands of other affiliate programs.

Step one is to join an affiliate program that pays at two levels i.e. a 2 tier program. Our sign up page can be found at www.themoneyseed.com/affiliate .

When you join you should get your own link to the main site where the sales process starts for that site and also a link for recruiting new affiliates. You can usually use the main link for affiliates also but there may be a link that takes the visitor straight to the affiliate sign up page.

Once you have a link you should do the following:

1. Add a signature to your emails, this will mean that every mail you send will have a tag line at the bottom which, in this case, will promote the service that you are affiliated with.

All Work At Home and No Play Make Jack a Dull Boy

Keywords: Home and Business Connection

We've all done it!

We sit for hours in front of our PCs searching, submitting and scrutinizing, while the very freedom we are building a home business to achieve, dwindles to stolen moments in between search engine submissions.

I can be almost certain that from the very moment you got your first check in the mail that you became hooked on the idea of working entirely from home. So much so that everything else in your life has had to take a back seat while you build your dream.

Having a dream and pursuing it is a very noble concept but when our home and family life suffers because of it then it can become a big problem.

It doesn't have to be this way.

Here are a number of points that may help you in keeping a balance.

1.Discipline yourself - When it comes to the amount of time you spend building and running your online enterprise. Set a time limit and don't stray over it.

Are You an Entrepreneur That is Starved for Time?

Keywords: Time Management

Being an entrepreneur and running a successful home-based business is stressful at times, and can be hectic. Success within a home-based business though, absolutely demands time management skills, or the chores that need to get done will be left undone, and procrastination, as well as a serious "personal time deficiency" will occur.

Several studies have shown that many first-time entrepreneurs spend too much time on "non-essential" activities within a business, activities that have nothing to do with business, or that have little impact on business success. At the end of each business day (when it finally ends), they are left feeling stressed out, burned out, separated from their personal lives, and worse yet, with a feeling of non-accomplishment and inefficiency.

You probably have met entrepreneurs like this occasionally in your own life. They constantly seem "busy", yet they are constantly late for appointments, don't ever have time to attend personal activities or outings, and are always stressed out about what still "needs to be done" each and every day!

A "personal time deficiency" occurs when an entrepreneur seems to spend all their time either working on the business, or thinking about the business. The entrepreneur can neglect family, friends, activities and personal pleasures, in pursuit of business functions. This is not only counter-productive to the business (creativity shines through when entrepreneurs also schedule time away from the business), but personal losses can occur to the entrepreneur. Horror stories abound about divorce among entrepreneurs, shattered family lives, and personal ruin.

A Reality Check...The Necessary First Step Before Starting A Home Business

Keywords: Home Business

I have helped thousands of people start up their own home based businesses using the Internet. Over time, I have come to recognize two of the most important factors for identifying people that should NOT start a home based business.

If a prospective entrepreneur says something like...

"I'm broke and need to make some money...fast!"

or,

"I want to start a home business, but I don't want to spend anything on it until after I start earning some money."

...it is certain that they have not "gotten real" and should not attempt to start a home business under either of those conditions. I refer to them as the "death sentences" for starting a home based business.

Almost equally important is the need to have realistic economic expectations when undertaking a home based business. There is no magic here, folks. A home based business provides many rewards such as working in the comfort of your own home, avoiding a stressful commute, being your own boss, setting your own hours, no dress code, etc., etc., but anyone that is also expecting "instant riches" is sadly mistaken.

The Work At Home Dilemma...Should It Be A Job Or A Business?

Keywords: Business Planning

You have decided to work at home (either by choice or necessity) and now you are faced with the decision as to whether to pursue a work at home job or to start a home based business. That may sound like a minor distinction, but the differences can be significant.

A general psychological characterization of the entrepreneurial spirit, says they are typically people who have a high energy level, set long-term goals, feel quite self-confident, and view money and financial security as a measure of accomplishment and piece of mind.

They are further characterized as problem solvers, who take risks, learn from their failures (as well as those of others), accept personal responsibility, seize the initiative, and use all available resources to achieve their success.

Entrepreneurs compete with themselves and believe that success or failure lies within their personal control or influence. They do not see setbacks as failures, but rather as learning experiences. Most of all, they exhibit persistence and tenacity, never giving up and never quitting the quest for success.

If you fit most of these criteria, you would probably elect to start a home business instead of undertaking a work at home job. However, the decision to work at home does not necessarily mean that you want to be the owner of a business. You may prefer working at home for an already established company. This is often easier to do than owning a business yourself and you may not want all the headaches, responsibilities and obligations that come with owning your own business.

Ten Entrepreneurial Mistakes

Keywords: Entrepreneur Mistakes

It's hard to avoid certain mistakes, especially when you face a situation for the first time. In fact, many of the following mistakes are hard to avoid even if you're an old hand. Of course, these are not the only mistakes CEOs make, but they sure are common enough. Take the following self assessment: give yourself ten points for each of these entrepreneurial blunders you are in the process of making. Deduct five points for those you have narrowly avoided. Your score, of course, will be kept confidential, but do seek help. Fast!

1. Big Customer Syndrome

If more than 50 percent of your revenues come from any one customer you may be headed for a meltdown. While it both is easier and more profitable to deal with a small number of big customers, you become quite vulnerable when one of them contributes the lion's share of your cash flow. You tend to make silly concessions to keep their business. You make special investments to handle their special requirements. And you are so busy servicing that one big account that you fail to develop additional customers and revenue streams. Then suddenly, for one reason or another, that customer goes away and your business borders on collapse.

Top 5 Work At Home Business Tools

Keywords: Equipment

Let's face it, having a work at home business on the Internet is both exciting, as well as difficult. The competition for customers, as well as the anonymity of the Internet, leads to frustration at times by those marketing their work at home business online.

Many online chores can be time consuming also, taking precious time away from other chores that would improve marketing efforts and success. Since many people have to be reached on a consistent basis by anyone endeavoring to succeed online in their home business, a few tools, that cost very little, are probably a necessity in the fast-paced online marketing environment of today.

Five tools that are economical, and practically a "must-have" for any serious online marketer, are as follows:

1. A professional Website: Whether you are marketing your own goods, services, or products, or whether you are an Affiliate Program Member, or a Network Marketing Member, your own professional Website is a virtual "must" (even if it only looks "professional" and you've created it yourself). There are many good template software programs out there for this need, as well as affordable Website design services. Affiliate Program "viral Websites" or any Network Marketing "viral Website" can be used initially, as well as the "sub-domain free sites", but to see "real sales" everyone will eventually need their own domain name, and Website.

Entrepreneurs √ Is Your Style Holding You Back?

Keywords: Entrepreneur Success

Are you an entrepreneur?
Do you run a successful business?

Do you want your business to continue to grow or are you happy with it at the size it is?

Most entrepreneurs will answer that of course they want their businesses to grow. That is what it is all about. But to what size? Do you want to be the leading business in your town? In your country? In your specific business sector? Perhaps you aim eventually to expand to become one of the great companies of the world.

With expansion comes an increase in the number of your employees. This is a fact of life. You can rarely run a major enterprise with just a handful of people. You need other people to help you, and your business will sink or swim according to how well they perform.

So are you happy with your staff? Do they come up to your expectations or are you disappointed with their performance?

Are you frustrated with their lack of enthusiasm? Are they reluctant to share your own point of view? Are they slow to accept your ideas? Do they take too long to understand your orders and to carry them out? Are they unwilling to put in extra effort than strictly necessary? Do they lack the spark that you have? In short, do you think that they are all useless and that you could do the job better
yourself?

How to Choose a Name for Your Business

Keywords: Naming a Business

Choosing a name for your business is important. Select it carefully.

Be sure the name fits these criteria:

. Indicate what kind of business you are in.
. Easy to remember.
. Distinctive - stand out from your competition.
. Catch the client's attention.
. Create a professional image.
. Inspire clients to buy from you.

Which of these has more appeal? HyperTyper or Judy's Word processing? "HyperTyper" tells what Gloria does. Not only does she type, but she types fast. Many people have commented they choose Gloria's services because of her business name.

A Promotional Tool

The right name is an effective advertising tool. If the name doesn't describe the nature of your business, potential clients may not realize that you offer something they need.

Choose a simple name your clients will be able to remember, pronounce, and spell. They have to remember your business name to look you up in the phone book or call information when they lost your phone number. For example -- Which of these is easier to remember: "Bob's Graphics," or "La Sécretere Rapide?

All The Comforts Of Home - Or Home Office!

Keywords: Office Organization

With the continued explosion of small business startups these days, home office setups are becoming more and more of an issue. You need all the standard equipment of a brick and mortar business, but can you afford them? And does it
really make a difference? The answer to both questions is yes!

Many home business entrepreneurs feel that if they don’t have clients stopping by, they don’t need to have a good office setup. An old desk, your child’s forsaken bookshelf, a chair from the kitchen table, and a miscellaneous table
or two will work just fine. The rest is just fluff.

However, consider these things. Every human being responds to his/her surroundings in one form or another. When your office looks like a professional place of business, you actually respond by being more professional with your
clients and vendors. But more importantly, "leftover" desks and chairs are normally not as comfortable as furniture specifically designed for an office. When you spend a tremendous amount of time at your desk, you physically need it to be as comfortable as possible.

Successful Home Business Start Up

Keywords: Home Business

Starting a business takes a great deal of work and dedication. In many cases, would-be entrepreneurs fail to fully research and plan a home business start up. Here are four recommendations for a successful home business
start-up.

Choosing the "Best" Home Business:

Deciding to work at home is the easy part. Its deciding what to do that is difficult. Most people start looking for something fast and easy, and only end up losing money and getting discouraged. Instead, would-be entrepreneurs should
start with start with self-evaluation. What do you like to do? What are you good at? What interests do you have? What limitations will have you in choosing a business (i.e. can you have customers in your home or will you travel to meet
them)?

Once you have a better sense of what you would like to do, what you are willing to do, or what qualities are needed in a home business to meet your goals, you can then begin to consider different home business ideas. Researching and
evaluating each idea carefully is vitally important. It may seem like a great idea to turn a hobby into a business but you must consider whether or not you want to turn something you enjoy doing into something you HAVE to do.
