Arrgh. . .Those Stupid Internet Marketing Cliches Are True! Keywords: Internet MarketingIf you have read any internet marketing resource ever created, you have no doubt seen simple, one sentence, pot-shot solutions to all of your problems: You will only be successful if you think you are successful. You will make money if you work hard. Think outside of the box. Content is king! . . .If you fail to plan, you plan to fail. How can this possibly help me, you think. These people are just crack-pots! They do not actually have any real help to offer me--just general advice, which really has no practical implications for me and for my business. This is exactly what I thought and this is now what I see newer marketers and affiliates saying. I was always skeptical of general advice. I thought success stories that ended with an exhortation to "work hard" and "make plans" and "think outside of the box" were just plain worthless. What I now know (what I learned as I slowly became more successful) is that this "common wisdom"--which I initially regarded as foolish and too unspecific--was actually the best advice available on the internet and it didn't even cost me money. November 23, 2004This is the Power of PRKeywords: Public RelationsThe power of public relations is its ability to alter individual perception, resulting in changed behaviors that lead directly to your organization's success. Its power really lies in doing something positive about the behaviors of a business, non-profit or association manager's important outside audiences – behaviors that MOST affect his or her operation. That's how external stakeholder behaviors are created that help achieve managerial objectives. In particular when managers persuade those key outside folks to their way of thinking, then move them to take actions that help the manager's department, division or subsidiary succeed. A basic public relations blueprint looks like this: people act on their own perception of the facts before them, which leads to predictable behaviors about which something can be done. When we create, change or reinforce that opinion by reaching, persuading and moving-to-desired-action the very people whose behaviors affect the organization the most, the public relations mission is accomplished. So, two key messages radiating from that fundamental premise are (1) your public relations effort must involve more than special events, brochures and news releases if you really want to get your money's worth, and (2), the right PR really CAN alter individual perception and lead to changed behaviors that help you succeed! Grab Your Share of Untold Amounts of Advertising DollarsKeywords: AdvertisingIf you advertise in anyway, the following information could show you how to find and utilize untold advertising dollars you may not be aware of. In the mid 80's I was an account executive for a radio station located in Santa Rosa, California. During that time I became very familiar with what is referred to as co-op advertising. Co-op advertising is a great source of advertising dollars. And there is so much of it available to people, yet most people know very little, if anything, about co-op dollars. Interestingly, I was one of the only reps at the station who made sure my clients knew about this benefit. The reason was simple, there was more work involved in getting my clients set up, and yet, there was financial gain for both my client and myself by taking time to help them stretch their marketing dollars. Co-oping is where you put in money for advertising and the manufacturer of a product you sell also puts in money. Often it is as much as 50% of the campaign. It is a great way to stretch your advertising campaign and to beef up your campaign. Unfortunately, even though the money is available if conditions are right, many people either aren't aware of this or if they are they think it's too much work to meet the criteria. Granted, in some cases it is, but often utilizing co-op money is a great way to stretch your marketing budget. Continue reading "Grab Your Share of Untold Amounts of Advertising Dollars"

Leads + Sales = Profits! Keywords: Increased ProfitsIn order to succeed with any business, you must make sales. In order to make sales you must get leads, in order to get leads you must advertise and promote your business! Leads+Sales=Profits! So what steps should you take to promote your new business? The first thing you must decide is are you going to use paid or free advertising methods? One will cost you money, the other will cost you time. If you choose to use free ads online you must be prepared to post hundreds (literally) every day, as these markets are very saturated, and your ad can disappear in minutes! Free ads also are usually "non-targeted", meaning that you may or may not reach people who are interested in your business opportunity, or product. Free ads take a while to produce results, so you must be very patient and persistent if you choose this method. Paid ads have a very big advantage over free ads--they are usually very targeted, you can reach a very specific audience of qualified people--people who are definitely interested in a business opportunity, or specific product. You can place paid ads in ezines and on business websites. Just do a search for "home business ezines" (or similar phrases) and you should get a list of ezines to look at. You can also do a search for "ezine directory" and get a list that way. Continue reading "Leads + Sales = Profits!"

How To Use RSS Feeds In Your MarketingKeywords: RSS FeedsIt was Friday night. I finished reading a book about RSS feeds. Quickly set up one for my site, submitted it on directories and went to bed. Sunday morning, I noticed a sale. Idly, I scanned my logs to see where the buyer had found me. It was from Yahoo! Now that may not seem surprising, except... I had not been listed in Yahoo! before. Curious, I did a Yahoo! Search for my domain name... and almost fainted in shock! There were 123 of my pages listed - many of them in the top 10 ranks on my best keywords. My RSS feed had been listed within 48 hours - and since my other pages were linked from it, they had all been indexed by Yahoo! just as quickly. And for free! Since then I have heard many others share similar experiences. It is no fluke. RSS is H-O-T. And search engines LOVE it. So what is RSS? An acronym for Really Simple Syndication, it is a web language format designed to help syndicate content across different sources. RSS has been around for more than 10 years but has only recently become popular. RSS feeds provide headlines and summaries of information in a concise and standardized way. November 09, 20045 High-Impact Marketing TipsKeywords: Marketing TipsHere are 5 high-impact marketing tips you can use to boost your sales quickly. All are simple to implement and they involve little or no new expense. 1. Promote Only One Thing at a Time Promote only 1 product or service each time you advertise. Many people have difficulty selecting one product when their decision forces them to delay or reject buying something else they also want. When prospects cannot make an easy choice they often make no decision at all ...and you lose the sale. Tip: Offer new customers a related product or service immediately after they buy from you. Many will accept your offer, producing an easy sale without jeopardizing the initial purchase. 2. Provide Multiple Ways for Customers to Buy Providing choices of what to buy will reduce your sales. November 08, 2004PR: The Thrill of a Good IdeaKeywords: Public RelationsThe notion that a business, non-profit or association manager can actually hold a big key to success in his or her own hands IS a thrilling idea! And it becomes more thrilling as the manager actually alters individual perceptions leading to changed behaviors of key outside audiences. Then persuades those external stakeholders to that manager's way of thinking, helping move them to take actions that allow their department, division or subsidiary to succeed. The thrill is real when public relations does something positive for those managers about the behaviors of the very outside audiences of theirs that MOST affect their operation, thus helping achieve those manager's managerial objectives. The trick lies in getting a manager's public relations team members working towards the same external stakeholder behaviors so that the PR thrust stays focused. November 05, 2004Marketing Your Home BusinessKeywords: Home Business MarketingEvery successful business venture implements a well thought out marketing plan. The development of a marketing plan along with financial and management plans will generally determine your success or failure in a home-based business. The fundamentals of a marketing plan are to know your customers well and to know your competitors even better. By identifying these two elements you can develop a marketing plan that will satisfy the needs of your customers, help you understand competitors, and be aware of changes in the market that could affect your profits. It takes planning and research to develop a successful marketing plan. Your home-based business will not become extremely profitable on its own. A marketing plan for your home business should include the level of demand for your particular service or product, how many businesses offer the same service or product, and how you can create a demand for your product through advertising or other promotions. Also a major consideration in marketing your home business is to determine if you can compete in quality, price and delivery of your product. Even if you use a marketing plan developed elsewhere, you still must cultivate the market by promoting your product in a way designed to attract customers and keep them. November 01, 20048 Easy Ways to Boost Credibility and Online SalesKeywords: Increasing SalesCredibility is a big concern on the Internet. If you're selling products or services online, it's essential that potential buyers trust you. Follow these strategies to build trust with your web site. 1. Obtain your own domain name. Your domain name is your unique address on the Internet such as http://www.yourname.com. To find a list of domain name registration services and check the availability of your preferred domain name, go to http://www.godaddy.com. 2. Pay for hosting. Why should you pay for hosting when there is free hosting available? To have a short domain name and convey a professional image, you must pay for hosting and obtain your own domain name. Free hosting has many limitations and often provides limited space for personal use. Your URL (web address) will be long and look like http://www.freeserver.com/yourname/your filename.htm. Most free hosting companies place advertising on your web pages that distracts from your message and slows down your pages. And it's difficult to get listed in major search engines when using a free hosting service. Hosting fees average $7-$30/month. Pay this low fee to increase credibility and gain your prospects' trust.
