Being a financially frugal business
Recycling Marketing and Advertising Instead of paying a large printing company to do all your printing, look online for some low-cost options. Several companies like VistaPrint.com will offer you low-cost mailing pieces and business cards. You can even design them yourself and upload the template to their web site. While they may not look quite as nice as the ones you have been using, your customers won't really care about the fine detail on your business cards. Watch the newspapers for grand openings or sales promotions that are happening at other businesses. Go to these events and start talking about your business and hand out some flyers and business cards. This an old marketing tactic that still works. Place some of those flyers on cars and in local grocery stores. Depending upon the type of business you are running, you can attract some new customers this way. If you have some old promotional products, give them away as a freebie. Contact local sports organizations or schools to see if you can donate your promotional products to be given away at sporting events or other events. This is an easy way to get your name out there, plus people love to get free stuff even if it is a pen. You can even hold a contest and have your customers write their name down to be drawn out of a box for a free item. Another simple idea to market your company frugally is to create a blog and direct customers to it. You can post interesting articles that appeal to your target audience and bring in new customers with it. Plus, blogging is free if you use Google or other companies to host your blog. Start talking to other companies that can partner with yours. Offer some simple ways you can both combine your advertising costs to help you both save money. For example, if you own a sandwich business, contact a local supermarket and ask them if you can purchase a portion of their weekly advertising space. In return, you will put their weekly ad in your shop and include it with your customer's orders. Always look for ways you can work with local companies to get your name out there and lower your costs.
