Do you drink enough water each day? Our skin needs water in order to stay hydrated and to protect our bodies. Your skin needs to be radiant and healthy. Your skin is a reflection of your overall health and if you aren't caring for your skin and developing healthier eating habits, it can be reflected through your skin. What are some of the things you can do to start caring for your skin in the right way?

Begin with a routine
What are you doing to your skin each day? Do you wash your face at night and add moisturizer to it that will allow it to retain its elasticity? You don't have to go to a doctor and get prescription skin care products and you don't need to spend hundreds of dollars on it. However you do need to find products that match up to your skin type and will not dry it out. You must develop not only a nightly routine to care for your skin but also a daily routine. Do you currently use harsh soaps on your skin? Do you try using a soap that includes moisturizer? After you shower do you use lotion to help the skin retain it's elasticity? You need to be doing all of these things in order for proper skin care to be effective.

Keep the skin safe from the sun
Not too many people realize just how much damage the sun can do to your skin. You have to work on keeping your skin safe by applying sunscreen to your skin. This will keep the UV rays from damaging the skin. When your skin is exposed to too much sun it will eventually lead to a lot of issues like wrinkles, freckles, age spots, moles, and precancerous or cancerous growths. When you are going to be in the sun, apply plenty of sunscreen ahead of time. This is a great way to prevent cancer. Another thing you need to do to keep the skin from drying out is to drink plenty of water when you are out in the sun. If you are being physically active in the sun, consider drinking a Gatorade as well in order to replace the electrolytes that may be lost. Water helps to provide your skin with moisture that it won't be able to get from lotion and other things.

Meet with a doctor
If you find that you have a lot of acne or you notice your skin dries out quickly you might need to meet with a doctor to discuss your skin problems. They will help you look into different options for caring for your skin but to also examine any age spots and other things. A dermatologist needs to examine all the age spots and moles and keep an eye on their growth. These growths can turn cancerous so it is vital that they watch them to be sure that your skin is healthy and that you do not have skin cancer.

Extra tips on caring for your skin
Our skin is the largest organ we have and we must care for it correctly. There are some additional things you can do to help prevent skin cancer and to work on keeping your skin healthier. Here are some tips you need to try out:

  • Limit your exposure to the sun, especially during the hours of 10am to 3pm.

  • Increase your intake of water. Drinking 8 full glasses of water is needed for good health but you should try and drink 10 or more to help the skin stay healthy.

  • Start eating foods that include a lot of vitamins and minerals. Foods like broccoli, oranges, apples, asparagus, beets, etc. will all provide you with healthier skin and a healthier body.
