Tips that will finally improve employee health

groupplanning26668223.jpgThere are so many illnesses out there that it can be very frustrating to try and keep a full staff on. Since an illness in the office can start with one person and go through the entire staff, it's no wonder that companies are looking for different ways to improve their employee health. In order to help your employees overcome their illnesses, especially those that can be life altering you need to have a roadmap to follow. Here are some great tips that will help you to improve employee health for good:

Tip # 1 - Cleanliness
Many times illnesses occur in the office because the office is not clean. You must use antibacterial cleaners on all the surfaces, especially the doorknobs where many germs are spread. If you have employees that are just overcoming an illness make sure you have them use Kleenexes and also be sure that you have antibacterial wipes so they can clean up their office area and to also sanitize their hands before they touch anything.

Tip # 2 - Send sick employees home
A lot of people try to overdo it and work through an illness. You have to send home your sick staff members so they can get plenty of rest and start to get better. Sick leave allows them time to get better and to return to work rejuvenated. One sick employee can spread an illness to the entire company and you can have several employees that are at-home and trying to get better. This will cost your company thousands of dollars in lost production. Its best to send them home right away to get better so they don't end up jeopardizing the entire company.

Tip # 3 - Offer health screenings

A great way to help your staff stay healthy is by offering health screenings. Have a doctor come in and examine them and also check them for serious health concerns. It's also a great time to get your entire staff caught up on their immunizations. Try to provide your staff with yearly health screenings as it's a great way to see what type of health issues need to be addressed in the office. You will need a good wellness program that will allow you to help your employees work on the different health concerns that they have.

Tip # 4 - Implement a wellness program
To help your employees stay healthy and to prevent illness, you should implement a wellness program. A wellness program is a great way to help your employees improve their overall health by losing weight, strengthening their muscles, etc. Wellness programs often teach healthier lifestyle habits with proper eating along with daily exercise. As an employer you can provide them with great tips on how to implement healthier foods in their diet as you can change the vending machine snacks and the meals that are served in the cafeteria. If you can, provide your employees with an on-site exercise facility so they can get in shape. Offering discounts to a local gym is another great way to help your employees get fit and to stay healthy.

Tip # 5 - Awareness
For prevention of serious diseases like heart disease and other things you need to hold an awareness day. This will include brining in a team of professionals to talk to your staff about the importance of good health. They will also discuss the various warning signs and symptoms of certain diseases like cancer and heart disease. A great way to help with awareness is to not only have a team of professionals come in and talk about it but to have your entire company participate in a charity run/walk which will help to benefit current victims of the disease.
