How To Improve Employees' Energy And Performance

businessmeeting26668385.jpg
Every business wants to know how to improve employees' energy and performance in the workplace.Unfortunately, what is stopping companies from doing so is that low energy and performance are not always about what goes on in the workplace. There are things that businesses can do to help their employees have more energy and be higher producing, but it just depends on how far the company wants to go and what time frame the company is looking at.

Companies that are looking at the immediate future - say over the next month - and while no one would ever suggest illegal drugs like speed and cocaine, there are some legal drugs that the company can give free access to for employees.Energy drinks usually have caffeine and other untested and unqualified ingredients that are said to boost a person's energy. Some companies have given their employees unlimited access to Coca-Cola, which has caffeine and tons of sugar. The most common performance enhancing drink in offices is coffee.Caffeine is the main ingredient, and if it is free of sweetener and milk, coffee will not increase the weight problem that affects America and other Western countries.
None of the above solutions is good over the long term.Over indulgence in any of the substances listed can lead to health issues that ultimately will decrease productivity and health of the employees involved in their indulgence.Adverse effects may include restlessness and irritability, trouble falling asleep, obesity and other issues.
A better solution is to guide employees to practices of good health. This means learning to lower the stress levels, increase the fun and making sure that no one is working more than is necessary. It may also include offering benefits that allow employees to get healthier through incentives and education.
The good news is that some of these things will actually help the company reduce costs even while it seems like it should increase them.Health insurance is more expensive than ever, and it will only continue to increase. One good way that a company can reduce insurance costs is by offering a health and wellness program. Many insurance companies are willing to decrease premiums for such programs, and over the long term, the company gains a ten dollar benefit for every dollar spent in lower insurance rates, less absenteeism and more productivity.
While celebrations may require spending money, when done correctly, a good celebration can help employees feel pride in their work and feel connected not only to their workplace, but also to the other people that work there. This shared mythology allows people to buy into a shared culture. They start thinking of the company as a good place to be rather than a drudgery that they must endure in order to afford a home, food and the kids' education.Working for the weekend becomes a thing of the past - well, almost.People are still going to want to enjoy their weekends.
Of course, in order for people to enjoy their weekends, they need to have them off.Appropriate breaks throughout the day and throughout the week are not only desirable, they are absolutely essential. There is a reason that the military force marches their soldiers for only 45 minutes of every hour. The other 15 minutes are spent on mandatory rest even if the soldiers don't think that they need it.By using this method to travel from one place to another, the soldiers are able to go much further in a day than they would otherwise. The same is true in the workplace.People need breaks so that they can focus on something other than work. Not only will they increase their productivity, they will also increase their creativity.
