Time To Get Rid Of Employee Burnout!

What is happening with the productivity for your company? Are you dealing with some morale issues? Have you noticed that your employees are taking off a lot time and leading you to have concerns with too much sick leave being used? When you have people taking time off too often, it forces your other employees to pick up the slack for them and this is hard on them and unfair. You need to address the issues with burnout so that you don't end up losing people that are valuable assets to the company.

Shift the workloads around
While you might not be able to have your employees reduce how much work they have to do, you can easily move the workloads around to make it fair for everyone. You need to plan on providing your employees with different jobs to do so they aren't doing the same thing all day long. When they have different jobs that they can try out, it makes it easier on them to be able to get things done and you can see production increase. You will also be able to see that your employees actually appreciate their jobs. Create units where people will shift around their work so every 2-3 hours they move to a new workstation.

Reduce the workloads
Are you overwhelming your employees with too many jobs to do? If you have workloads that are not manageable anymore, you need to reduce them. Make them fair for everyone. Consider bringing in new employees to help out or you may try out some other things like streamlining and outsourcing things as this will help to reduce the workload on your staff.

Offer breaks
Do you offer adequate breaks to your staff? Most companies offer 2, 15 minute breaks but not everyone will take them. Walk around and make sure your employees are going outside or just getting away from their desk and their work for a few minutes. This can re-charge their energy and focus. You really need to work on looking at creating an on-site exercise facility so they can go and run or just rest for 15 minutes. Having a place to release pent up stress is huge and will really show your employees that you are invested and that you care! If its late into the workday and people look "done" why not let them head home early? This is a nice reward to give to them once and awhile and your staff will really appreciate it.

It's not easy to have good employees that are taken advantage of by their co-workers. You need to be able to talk to your employees that are taking a lot of time off and causing the production to go down and forcing the other employees to work twice as hard. If you notice a trend, start keeping track and give them a warning that termination will occur if this continues. Hold your employees to this new rule so others can see that you are serious about firing people that take time off just because they want to and they cause other people to work harder because of it.

Employers owe it to their employees to invest in their health. You need to be aware of them and to see when they are suffering from certain issues. When you do invest in their health and wellbeing, they will become loyal to your company and you will find that you have a good workforce to keep the company going. Just doing something about burnout can really boost your company's bottom line and people will respect you more as a manager for it.
