The Culture You Create Can Make Or Break Your Company

As you create a company that is going to be successful, there are many elements and factors that you need to consider. The culture you are creating can have a huge impact on your company and you need to be able to look at yourself and if you are the person that can create a culture that is tolerant of others and one that people can easily see will respect them. The workplace culture will have a direct impact on the following:

- Reputation
- Morale
- Business performance

Having the right type of culture can motivate and inspire people to come and work for the company. You must be able to look for ways in which you can create policies that people can respect and will be able to follow. As an employee, what where some of the things that you noticed about policies that you used to respect? Consider adding in some of these elements to your own policy to get people to actually follow them.

One of the elements that you need to address is bullying in the workplace. While you might not think this is something you will ever need to deal with, it is! Bullying is a real thing and a lot of companies are struggling with it. This is because bullying can happen behind your back and some of the people that are being bullied do not always stand up for themselves. They do not come to management and talk about the issues. This is why you need a reporting policy so anyone else that does see bullying can come to you and talk about what they have witnessed. You can then take their account and talk to other parties that are involved and hopefully fix it. If it continues, you will need to look at termination of the person that is bullying others. Be firm with this policy as bullying is something that should never go on and it's something that you cannot allow to occur within your organization.

Other elements of creating a culture will come down to the general health of the company. Do you offer the employees unhealthy snacks and things to fill up on? If you are not offering healthy food choices, you are just as much in the blame circle as the people that also eat unhealthy food. You need to provide fresh fruits and vegetables to your staff to fill up on. They will appreciate the healthy energy and the investment you are making in them. A good workplace wellness program can address the issues that you are facing with eating and unhealthy habits. When people are healthier, they are happier and they are also productive. This way you will be able to see an increase in your bottom line but you can easily appreciate the staff for their commitment to the wellness program and trying to take care of their health.

One of the things that you need to do is to set an example to your staff. People look to you and the way that you treat others. Never talk down to others and never be the person that is caught in the middle of a fight in the workplace. You need to be the person that prevents the fights! You also need to be the person that is recognizing the talent in their employees and complimenting them for all of their hard work. Become a respecter of others and they will follow your example. This is huge for your company as it will be able to help people find ways to find the good in themselves and to bring that to the workplace every day!
