The benefits of micros systems for restaurants

compexplaination19160777.jpg
Micros systems have been around since 1977. In recent years, though, they have become increasingly used in restaurants. There are many benefits of micros systems for restaurants, which make them a great asset to any restaurant, no matter how big or small.

One of the key benefits to micros systems in restaurants is that they are fairly easy to learn and use. The micros systems are mostly touchscreen computers. Generally, touchscreen computers are more accessible, allowing users of every skill and knowledge level to use them. The touchscreen, because it is fairly simple to use, will probably require less employee training since it, in a way, walks the user through the various services offered by the system.

Their straightforward design allows workers in a restaurant to see and point at exactly what they want. For example, a server can easily place an order to be sent back to the kitchen. The server finds the ordered item on the computer and touches the screen. This will usually bring up another screen or menu, asking for specifics (like quantity or if some part or ingredient needs to be omitted or if extra is wanted). Not only does the touchscreen micros system make this easy, but it can also be done quickly. Just a few touches here and there and the order is sent.

Title: The difference between laser and inkjet printing

Many people walk into a store looking at two different types of printers. A inkjet printer and a laser jet printer. The question that always comes to mind is, "what is the difference between a laser and inkjet printer?" Many people will prefer one type over the other, but it is all personal preference. Some of the main differences are listed below:
Powdery toners are used in laser printers, in certain plain paper faxes, and in certain plain paper xerographic copiers.
Liquid ink is used in inkjet printers and in inkjet copiers and faxes.
"Laser Jet" is Hewlett Packard's name for its line of laser printers.
"Deskjet", "Officejet", and "Designjet" are Hewlett Packard's names for its lines of inkjet printers and plotters.
"Bubblejet" is Canon's name for its line of inkjet printers.
If the paper coming from the printer, copier, or fax you are using is warm, the system probably uses powdery toner.
If the ink on the paper is wet to the touch, the printer, copier, or fax you are using probably uses liquid inkjet ink.
If your cartridge is about as wide as a sheet of paper (9 to 12 inches or 225 to 400 mm) or larger, the system probably uses powdery toner.
If your cartridge is about 3 to 4 inches in size (75 to 100 mm) or smaller, your cartridge probably uses liquid inkjet ink.
The main thing to know is what you want to do with the printer? Are you using it in a work environment or personal use? Photo printing or document printing? To know which is best for you, let's look at both printers individually.

Or really any other type of electronic document. And gone are the days of saving on floppy disks or CDs. Today we have something much smaller and portable. But not all portable memory drives were created equally. Some have a much better chance of reliably saving your documents. So here is a brief description of your safest options for portable memory.

Secure Digital and MultiMedia Card
Our first portable memories are the Secure Digital and MultiMedia Card (MMC) standard. MMC has a 24mm x 32mm x 1.5mm storage card of very differing capabilities. MMC cards have largely been outdated by SD equivalents. MMC cards are supported by a wide variety of digital camera makers, as well as manufacturers of portable media players and PDAs, including Kodak, Canon and Samsung. SD cards are capable of storing no more than 2GB. Since 2GB was not sufficient for many people's storing needs, the SDHC (Secure Digital High Capacity) was created. SDHC is the newest evolution of the SD card. SD and SDHC are identical in physical size and shape, and SDHC compatible products will be able to accept both SD and SDHC cards. .

You can scan anything into your portable scanner and then, when you connect it to your PC, have a fully functioning (i.e., editable) file of what you scanned. This gadget is so high tech it is almost scary.

Should you allow your employees to use personal cell phones at work?

Cell phones in the work place are a little bit of a catch-22. If your employees have to make or take personal calls while they are at work, you would probably rather have them do it on their own dime than on yours. What makes this a catch-22 is that you don't want them to use their cell phones at work. A typical solution for this problem is for business to have an "only in case of emergency" cell phone policy.

There are security issues regarding cell phones. I was surprised when I went into a locker room recently and saw posters everywhere stating that the use of cell phones was prohibited in the locker rooms. I talked with a security officer to find out what the deal was and he said they had to prevent people from taking pictures in the locker room. Apparently, some other branch of the company had problems with people taking pictures of other people showering and then posting the pictures on the internet. It is somewhat hard to believe that we have to think about these things but the sad truth is that we do.

How to do a hard reset on your computer or pocket pc

If you cannot close the program manually and you are using a Windows operating system you can hold down "control", "alt", and "delete" all at the same time. Doing this will open the Windows Task bar. From the windows taskbar, you can select the program, or programs, that you would like to shut down and click "end program". This is a safe way to reset your computer and all of your data will be safe. You might loose any unsaved information for the program you were working on but you are going to lose that no matter how you reset the computer.

If the computer is so locked up that you cannot get it to respond by using control/alt/delete, you are going to have to do something aggressive but don't reach for the hard reset button just yet. The start menu is always available on the bottom of your computer screen. You can shut down the computer by clicking on start and selecting "turn off computer". You will then get options for switching users, turning off the computer, or restarting the computer. Select restart and see what happens.

Because of how fast our technology is changing many people wonder how we are supposed to get ready for future technology. How to find the right business process consultant

Studies have shown that businesses lose massive amounts of money owing to poor business processes. Even if you're running a fairly tight ship, have hard-working employees, pay close attention to important details, are conscientious, painstaking, and untiring when it comes to the dry difficult work of financial reports and quarterly assessments, money could be pouring out of your business like sand through a sieve or through the empty sockets of skull as it sits year after year in its glittering pirate's cave waiting to be avenged.
The problem is that business is a complicated, fast paced, constantly changing process that keeps you always on your toes, always on the phone, always talking with a client, attracting new ones, training workers and management, and so forth; there just isn't time enough and hands enough and eyes enough and mouths enough and brains enough to do all that needs to be done in a given day and, what's more, to do it flawlessly. And so tiny, unnoticeable things start to slip, or perhaps they were never shored up in the first place and so continue to be a problem you're unaware of. These problems are like tiny wounds that trickle blood in such insignificant amounts that you pay no attention to them until suddenly you're pale, exhausted, and, unless you get help and get it fast, dead.

Pros and cons of distributing training material via ipod

Ipods. They're everywhere. You see them in the park while people go jogging. You see them snuck into classrooms by students hoping not to get caught. You see them on airplanes, in malls and around the grocery store. But have you ever noticed them at work? Maybe you've seen fellow employees wasting time while they snuck a movie or a TV show during a break. Or maybe some of your co-workers like to listen to music while they work- their own music and not some mushy elevator music. But have you thought of using an iPod for distributing training material? Let's discuss this new technology and also review some of the pros and cons of distributing training material via iPods.

Nowadays even businesses are starting to use iPods in the workplace. They are being used to deliver training and education materials. Typically a business produces 15 to 30 minute clips for employees to watch and listen to different types of training. The idea is that iPods don't have to be used just for entertainment purposes; they can also be used for learning and mobile education. Another thing that goes along with this is called Podcasting.

How to use technology to improve presentations

It's a day that everyone, presenter and listener alike, dreads: presentation day. It's a day when your employees are herded into a too small, too warm and dimly lit conference room and then forced to listen to you or some other executive give a presentation on some matter of business. More often than not, half of the employees fall asleep during the presentation. The other half is playing with their blackberries or cell phones. Maybe you are even distracted (and you're the one forcing everyone into the presentation!) So what's the key to giving a good presentation? Technology. But there is a catch: technology must be done well or else it may have the reverse effect. So how is it done? How can you incorporate technology into your presentations?

Using technology in your presentation can add an entirely new dimension to your message. Technology can enhance your presentation and make it memorable. It can help your audience stay interested and involved in what you have to say. When used improperly, however, it can and will distract from your main points. It may even bore or confuse your audience. Using technology could even put them to sleep, if not done correctly. PowerPoint slides are a perfect example of this. PowerPoint is an excellent program and, when used properly, can add life to any presentation. However, only about 10 percent of presenters actually use it properly, so beware!

What technology can I do without?

Technology is always advancing. It's amazing all the devices and programs that are out there. Do we really need all of it though? You can probably think of a few technological advancements that were not necessary. It is all subjective. It depends on who you ask. Let's go through some technology that most people use to see if they are necessary or not. But remember, it's all on what you value, how you look at it, and how you define "living without" these things.

TV - You can definitely live without television. Do you really need to sit around all day watching programs about other people? How does that affect you? How do their lives influence yours? Is it doing you any good to sit and watch it? You could be doing so many more productive things instead. If you feel like you are addicted to the tv, try going without it for a week. You'll be surprised how much time you were spent watching tv.

Improve function through business analysis

How well or unwell your business functions depends largely on your skill or un-skill with the process known as business analysis. Before you can improve function through business analysis, you need to understand what it is. Business analysis is the process by which a new product becomes ready for its maiden voyage. Different products, as every good businessperson knows, require different marketing techniques. Different products require sometimes wildly differing marketing plans. Different products mean, among other things, differences in sales (due to factors like expense, function, etc.), differences in advertising costs, differences in advertising venues, differences in profits, and so on.
This may seem like a very elementary point to make. It seems obvious that you wouldn't try to sell a toaster in exactly the same way you'd try to sell a pair of running shoes. The overall goal is the same, of course-to sell lots of toasters and running shoes-but your actual methods for achieving that goal differ importantly from one product to another. In other words, the overall goal in selling a product is to sell the product, but just how you go about doing it requires great subtly, skill, time, and preparation.
Now, it would seem almost as if business analysis was a separate thing from the day to day activities of the company. Business analysis is a special thing, only the best of the best need apply, and it sort of hovers over the more mundane aspects of business and business life. This is true, in some ways; the fellow coming up with a marketing plan for your new product is going to have a more extensive, specialized education than the fellow pasting up flyers for it. But business analysis should be able to improve the functioning of your company overall. That is, business analysis should be so integrated into the day to day affairs of your company that its special energy influences everything else.

Using the latest computer technology

Computer technology is always advancing. There are so many things you can do on a computer now that weren't available a couple decades ago. Some of the latest computer technology would include networking, the Internet, software, using two monitors, USB drives, and DVD/CD drives.

Networking:
You can network two or more computers together. This allows you to share information between computers. You can either have a wired or a wireless network. Both will require the purchase of a router. If you use a wired network, you will have to connect each computer to the router. If you use wireless, you will need to set up the network on each computer, but you will not need any cords connected from your computers to the router.
