Today, one of the more popular benefits that companies are offering is the use of onsite gym. Studies have shown that employees, who get regular exercise, have better performance on the job. While this certainly is significant, it may not be enough, for employers to begin installing onsite gyms. However, there are a number of other reasons that this type of investment can benefit both employees of the company, and the employer itself. Here are some reasons why businesses should have an on site gym-

- Benefits for the employees-Employees who work for a company with an onsite gym, no longer have the excuse of not having time to get their workout in. They will no longer have to use up part of their day to workout, or even need to drive to a workout facility. Studies have shown that employees who use an onsite gym, before beginning their workday report higher energy and increased productivity, in addition, employees who choose to workout at the end of the day, report feelings of reduced stress. It should be noted that while most employees may not utilize the gym everyday that they work, studies have shown that most employees increase the amount of exercise they do, when they access to an onsite gym. The easy access of the gym provides increased motivation, for all employees no matter their current fitness level. The bottom line is that the healthiest employees tend to be the ones that are the most physically fit. This means that the employee will pay less in their own health care costs, and be more productive at work, which increases their chances, for salary raises and promotions.
- Benefits for the employer-While most employers want their staff to healthier and happy, the real determination as to whether or not to build an onsite gym will come down to the cost. The reality is that each business must clearly determine what they can afford, what their employees are mostly likely to access and how much space they have for an onsite gym. This means that most likely each business will need to customize their onsite gym. The range of options for onsite facilities run the gamut from a few pieces of equipment and weights, to a full size gym with the latest in fitness equipment and an assortment of trainer and other high end options. For a business to fully utilize having an onsite gym, they will need to make sure that whatever they decide to build, will meet the needs of their employees. Some employers after considering the cost options will then opt to offer gym memberships to their employees. However, if the business can financial manage a on site gym there are plenty of benefits, for the employer, as well. Employers who offer on site gyms will find that their employees are more productive, because they are healthier. In addition, some insurances will reduce their premiums, for employers who offer an onsite gym. Best of all employers will find that their health care cost will not rise as fast, since more employees are working to get physically fit. Finally, employers who offer an onsite gym report higher levels of employee morale and job satisfaction. This then translates into employees who are more loyal to the company, and stay in their jobs, for the long term. One of the biggest concerns that many employers have is whether or not the employees in their business, will continue to utilize the gym, after it is built. Many businesses have come up with a variety of motivations, to keep their employees filing in to work out. Again, the method that works best will have to be determined on an individual business basis, since the same motivation may not work, for every type of business.
