- Use a local gym for your fitness program-Many time's businesses would love to put in an onsite gym for their employees but that often isn't possible. Even if the money is available there is often not the space that would be needed. This makes turning to a local gym a good option for businesses that can't do a gym on their own. Your local gym can even serve as the center point of your employee wellness program since many gyms now offer nutritional counseling and weight loss programs, as well. Best of all, the gym is not only a lower cost option but it assumes the liability which also reduces the expense for the business. Keep in mind that most gyms will offer corporate discounts which it can make it affordable to have your employees get fit there.
- Repaint your stairways, add biking and walking paths-Sometimes even a local gym isn't going to be the right option for your employee wellness program. This means that you will have to get creative with what you have. Many business owners have taken a good look at what they have and turned into options for their employee wellness program. Repainting stairwells and adding lights can give your employees a place to workout. You can put weights and stationary bikes in an empty conference room. Many businesses have even added biking and walking paths around their building. All of these options are fairly low cost but can provide great fitness options for your employees for not a lot of money.
- Check into free resources in your community-If you are a business owner who is trying to put together an employee wellness program. It is important to know that there are many free or low costs resources in most communities. You can utilize these free resources to help facilitate your employee wellness program. It is important to contact the Health Department in your area to see what is available for you to use for your employees. These services can include but are not limited to: health screenings, nutritional classes, and other informational seminars. You may find that you can offer your employees programs that you may never have thought possible by using these types of resources.
