Multiple reasons to prove employee wellness programs work
It is estimated that for every dollar invested into an employee wellness program that close to $6-$10 is provided in return. Getting your employees to lose weight and to really pay attention to their health and wellness will go a long way for your organization. It helps to reduce healthcare costs but it also improves morale as your employees are less likely to miss work all the time, causing their co-workers to take on extra work loads while they are absent from work. Many of your employees may just need a kick from a medical expert to really take notice of their health. If they are able to see that their poor eating habits are really taking a toll on their heart, they may open up to a healthier lifestyle. Other employees like those that are living sedentary lifestyles will be shocked to learn that not exercising is the equivalent of smoking a pack of cigarettes each day! Not caring for your body will shorten your lifespan and will decrease your overall quality of life. If your employees want to live longer, healthier lives they need to take the time to focus on improving their health and that is what the entire purpose of the employee wellness program will do for them. To kick start the employee wellness program you need to consider bringing in a team of experts to help you out. You will need a physical therapist to help your employees create an exercise program that is specific to their needs. You will then need an nutritionist to help your employees create a diet plan that allows them to get in all of the healthy fruits and vegetables they need and help them to maintain a healthy weight. Now you will need a doctor to come in and do physical examinations and help them to see where their current health is at. When they can see the information right in front of them and they are approached by experts, it is much easier for employees to embrace the program. You can then go and give a speech as to how the program will work and what type of compensation or benefits will await the employees if they are able to do the program and see results. It is important to have a good motivator for the employees. Consider dividing them into groups so they have people to encourage and motivate them along the way. This will be extremely helpful for times when they are stuck in a rut like when they are trying to give up smoking or times when they are needing a person to go to the gym with them. Not only will an employee wellness program help to cut costs for your company it will also help to foster a unity among your staff and will really help to get your employees to work together. |
