Every small business owner is always looking for ways to grow his or her business. However, the biggest challenge in doing this is finding the money that is often required to put business growth strategies into place.   • Offer education-If you take what your small business does and offer it as an educational package, you may find a way to expand your business. This can be a great, low cost way to expand your business base. For example-bakeries often offer cake decorating or cooking classes, computer stores add on tech classes, and craft stores offer how to classes, that have their "students" buying supplies right from there stores. If you can find a way to host a seminar or class, you may be able to add a whole other dimension to your business. However, it cannot be stressed enough that you must be able to offer your customers something of value or you will damage your relationship with them, and risk causing serious harm to your business. An added benefit of this type of business structure is that you can often bring in potential customers.
  • Build relationships-Many small business owners have found that a great way to expand their small business is to create relationships with other businesses and other contacts. What this means is that you can often utilize the resources of other businesses to help you sell your product. Consider approaching another business about creating a selling agreement. This works best if your product fits well with theirs. You can often generate better sales by working together, then either of your could do alone. In addition, this has the added benefit of being able to reach a whole other segment of your target market.
  • Get on the internet-While most businesses have seen the advantages of getting an online presence, there are still a few businesses that are holding out. If your small business is not online, then its needs to get there-today. Taking your business online is one of the lowest cost ways to expand your business recognition, to a lot more people, quickly and efficiently. The best thing to do is to start with setting up your own website. If you are unsure as to how to set up a website, there are many different software programs that can help, or even online templates that you can follow. This can begin to show your customers what you have to offer. Studies have shown that more and more consumers are turning to the internet before making a purchasing decision, just to find out what is being offered. This means that if your small business is not online, you may not even be considered. If your small business already has a web site, then now is the time to expand your marketing onto social media sites. These sites will allow you to converse with your customers, and determine what they are looking for. This type of free market research will then help you know who to best position your business and what it offers, so it meets your potential customer's needs and wants.
