There are many others that you need to have as well but these 5 skills can help people to see the human side of you and it will be much easier on them to see that you are truly focused on helping them and to growing the company as well. People want to work for a person that they can respect and a person that provides this type of respect to them in return. You need to be able to have an idea as to how you can easily work on providing this to your staff in the way that you are managing the company. Think of all the leaders that you have had over the years. Why did you want to work for some of them? What was about these individuals that you really respected? You need to list out these qualities and to try and absorb the ones that you admired and have them become part of your management style. Friendliness and learning to communicate will go a long way in being able to help you create better relationships with your employees and to having a stronger company overall. A manager is a leader and they need to be the person that has a lot of ideas for the company. You need to be the person that has a vision for the future and a person that others really do respect and admire. When the employees see that you have goals and a vision they will have an easier time being able to look up to you and to trust that you will lead the company ahead in the right direction. As you do this, you can really focus your activities on being able to plan effectively. Do this with everything from planning the marketing agenda to planning the future of the company and the jobs that will open up. What other skills do you need to have? You need to be able to learn how to communicate effectively. It is important that you focus your efforts on working with your employees. Hold meetings and really listen to them. Use all the types of communication that you can to communicate with your staff from emails to phone calls and face to face meetings. You need to ensure that you are all on the same page and that you are doing all that you can to maintain a higher standard for the business. When you work on creating open lines of communication, it helps your employees to know that they can come to you with their issues and that you will work hard on resolving them. Stay organized! This is important to your company's success and your employees! When you are organized you will not miss deadlines and have other issues to deal with. Out of all the skills that you can have, organization is one of the essential skills that an effective manager needs to have. |
