Marketing is the lifeblood of any business. However, many business owners misjudge the impact of their marketing. There are some business owners that feel that they cannot afford to spend any money on marketing. Some business owners even make the mistake of thinking that they don't need to market since they have such a great product or service. However, the reality is that not only is it essential for you to market but there are many different low cost and even no cost business marketing ideas that bring in a big payoff in terms of increasing sales and market exposure. The bottom line is that it really doesn't matter how much you spend on marketing but how effective you are with what you spend. Here are some low cost ways to market your business-

- Offer the best in customer service-You may be surprised to learn that one of the most effective ways to market will cost you the least amount of money. By offering your customers the best in customer service you are spreading a message about your business. Keep in mind that studies show that many customers will return to purchase again simply because of the level of customer service that they receive regardless of whether or not the business offers the lowest price on the product or service that they buying. This makes it crucial that you train everyone who works for you that customer service is their top priority no matter what their job description is. The bottom line is that when your business offers the best in customer service your happy customers will go out and tell their family and friends about your business which is priceless marketing.
- Pass out a memorable business card-It is a great marketing strategy to have abusiness card. However, you need to ask yourself if your potential customers and other key contacts will remember your business card or simply file it or (worse yet) trash it after you have given it to them. You need to make sure that you are creating a business card that is memorable and will inspire your potential customers to act when they see it. This can mean more then simply printing your business information on a card with a small logo. Keep in mind that there are many online sites that can help to guide you in creating a one of a kind business card that will have your customers and key contacts talking about your business long after you have given it to them. You may also want to consider creating fridge magnets, calendar pages, or small note pads to hand out in your marketing efforts since many people hang onto these longer then business cards.
- Consider using co-op marketing-There are many marketing methods that are just out of the reach of small and medium sized businesses. If yourbusiness has limited resources you may want to consider joining up with another business in order to increase your marketing power. This is known as using co-op marketing.Keep in mind that co-op marketing can be anything from sending out anotherbusiness' information (and they return the favor), to using the marketing resources of both businesses for print or TV ads. You should not assume that another business won't be willing to work with you since most business owners are always looking for ways to increase their marketing without having to increase their marketing budget. In addition, keep in mind that this can be a short term or a long term marketing effort depending on the needs of the businesses that are involved.
