Why use affiliate Internet marketing?

So, the question is: Why use affiliate marketing? First of all, let's talk about the meaning of the word "affiliate." A usable website is a two way relationship between you and your customer: your website must have enough information to keep youhappy, and must be one where the customer can easily understand what they are looking at and find what they want quickly. What's the best day to send out promotional emails?

When is the best day to send out promotional emails? That is like asking, "what is the best pair of jeans for me to buy?' Buying a pair of jeans, from where, and what style - depends largely (no pun intended) on your size and shape (as we are reminded at least twice a year in fashion magazines that promote their magazines through telling us what jeans we will look best in). Likewise, sending out your promotional emails depends largely on you and your customer base.

If your businesses consumer base is largely comprised of teenagers, then the time to send out your exciting and upcoming promotions via email is going to be much different than the time to send them out to the business man or woman. Most teenagers are going to be attending school Monday through Friday eight to three and are not going to have the time nor the concentration to spend reading about your promotions. So for a teenage consumer base sending out mid-day emails will probably not be the best choice. You may want to send out the emails in the late afternoon to early evening, as this is when most teenagers will be dedicating themselves to their homework. A lot of homework in this day and age requires the use of the internet and your consumer base will most likely jump on to check their email before doing anything else (as most people do).

How to determine the best online business model

A business model is going to be a key factor in any business staying a float as it is the determining factor in how a company makes its profit. Making a profit is the reason most people start a business in the first place, so deciding on a business model before selling your product is going to be necessary.

The most basic of business models is the one I implemented at age six when I and my cousin teamed up to co-own a rock gathering and distributing company. The business model was simple: we provided a product, and sold it to our customers. We even added in an additional service by loading the rocks in our little red wagon and wheeling that wagon straight up to the customer's door. In this way our customers didn't even have to leave the comfort of their home to receive the goods we provided (usually collected from off the sidewalk in front of their home). This basic business model worked well for us since the product cost us nothing so we had only to sell a few rocks before earning the desired two dollars and being able to enter into a complete and very content retirement.

Almost everyone has received unsolicited offers in the mail. These are what many call "junk mail", and more often than not, end up in the "circular file", more commonly known as the trash can. But anyone who is considering Internet marketing as either a part-time or full-time business may want to at least give a moment's pause before the big toss. Better still would be to study and reflect on the material you've received, and in some cases, store it in a real file for future use. The reason is because Internet marketing today is, in reality and when done properly, a high-tech enhancement and expansion of old-fashioned direct mail.

Those sales letters that arrive in your mailbox aren't randomly sent there, nor are they sent to everyone in your country or state. Instead, successful direct mail operators rent carefully selected mailing lists. These lists may be buyers of a particular product, people who've expressed interest in topics and products through surveys and registration forms, magazine subscribers, people who live in a certain postal code, and so on. The underlying principle is that the direct mailers target a select audience to receive their offer, and a certain percentage of the recipients, known as the response rate, will then accept that offer. Then through continual testing and refinement of the sales letter, pricing, terms, colors, and other variables, direct marketers work to improve their response rates over time.

Arrgh. . .Those Stupid Internet Marketing Cliches Are True!

If you have read any internet marketing resource ever created, you have no doubt seen simple, one sentence, pot-shot solutions to all of your problems: You will only be successful if you think you are successful. You will make money if you work hard. Think outside of the box. Content is king!

. . .If you fail to plan, you plan to fail.

How can this possibly help me, you think. These people are just crack-pots! They do not actually have any real help to offer me--just general advice, which really has no practical implications for me and for my business.

This is exactly what I thought and this is now what I see newer marketers and affiliates saying. I was always skeptical of general advice. I thought success stories that ended with an exhortation to "work hard" and "make plans" and "think outside of the box" were just plain worthless.

What I now know (what I learned as I slowly became more successful) is that this "common wisdom"--which I initially regarded as foolish and too unspecific--was actually the best advice available on the internet and it didn't even cost me money.

1. Search Engine - Is a database of web sites that is ranked according to the computerized criteria that the programmers decide upon called an algorithm. Various search engines determine ranking on their own different factors of importance or relevancy. Zig Ziglar, the famous self help guru, was once quoted as saying "You can get everything you want in life if you help enough people get everything they want in life."

Trial and Error + Persistence = Successful Marketing

A few honest and successful Internet business owners will attest to the fact that they have made countless marketing mistakes. Many of them will admit that they didn't get it exactly right on the first try. However, practically all will tell you that - without the gumption to take calculated risks and the persistence to follow through -they would have never developed a truly successful online marketing campaign.

Grassroots Internet Marketing Campaign

Many people, in a rush to spike sales through the roof, think too big and end up completely missing out on one of the best free marketing opportunities on the net: discussion forums. Instead of focusing on individual sales, they go immediately for ads that promise thousands of visitors, pay-per-click search engines that could potentially expose them to thousands, and even sloppily-produced and sometimes fraudulent spam submission programs.

Even though it is essential to increase your rating with search engines, to purchase pay-per-clicks, and to participate in link exchanges and banner exchanges, discussion forums can often provide an extra, non-conventional sales medium to your campaign that allows you to quickly pull in customers with personal contact and conversational presentations of your product.

You can find these boards by searching for the specific product you sell and then adding the word " messageboard" or "forum" or "discussion forum" after it in quotations. For instance, I sell marketing tools and online business-builders on one of my websites, so when I look for forums to market my products in, I go to google or overture and type in "business messageboard" or "marketing forum." Increase your web page traffic by up to 100%!

Have you optimized your web pages in order to receive traffic from the major search engines (SE) like Google, Yahoo or Msn?

If you have, then I'll show you a simple method you can use to increase your traffic further by up to 50 or 100%!

With "keyword" we mean the search phrase.

The most common practice is to optimize each page with one keyword. The reason for this is that in order to be rated high in the SE, the keyword needs to be found in the page's title, in the headlines and to be included a number of times in the main text.

You can have maximum two relevant but different keywords included in the title. If you include more than that the optimization for those additional keywords will dilute your result.

This is because the optimal length of the title is limited only to a few words for effective SE optimization.

The best option is to optimize for just one keyword per page.

Alliance Partner Turns Up the Heat on Sales

Reed Switch Developments Corp. President Debra Berns knew that her company's web site had not tapped the full potential of the Internet. Last summer, amid signs of a weakening economy, she decided it was time to overhaul the company's web site in a bid to generate new customers and sales.

Racine-based Reed Switch manufactures magnetic proximity sensors used in boats, commercial lawn mowers, elevators, escalators, incubators and dialysis machines.

With only 15 employees, the company didn't have the expertise in-house to build a world-class web site. So it turned to WMEP Alliance Partner Don Crowther, president of Breakthrough Consulting, an Internet and marketing consulting firm.

"The first thing we did was to make our web site more user friendly ... easier to navigate and faster to download," says Berns. "One thing we wanted to avoid was all the bells and whistles - if the page takes too long to download people will just leave."

How To Market Without a Website

Despite what internet marketing "gurus" tell you, you do not need to have a website to be successful in internet marketing.

You do need some basic tools, but a website is not one of them.

Sure, a website is helpful, especially as a content management tool, and even more so if you sell your own products. But if you are an affiliate marketer, you don't need your own site.

For affiliate marketing, there is really only one tool you need (other than internet access and email): an autoresponder. You need a good autoresponder that will let you broadcast messages to the list that you will build. Most free autoresponder programs will not let you do this, so you need to invest about $20 per month in a good autoresponder. This will be the best investment you ever make in your business. And, since autoresponder programs are affiliate programs themselves, you can promote your autoresponder program and eventually have it pay for itself.

How to Test Market for Free from Your Own Web Site

Here's a novel way of test marketing new produce for free from an existing web site. Maybe the idea is not so new but it's new to me and I know for a fact it works - because I tried it out and the results were spectacular.

In a nutshell...

Recently I developed five new interlinked products which I was loath to thrust upon an unsuspecting public without some idea of their uptake potential. I looked at several online test marketing software kits but baulked at the price tags. Then I decided to undertake a little experiment. I added two new pages to www.writing-for-profit.com of which the first was devoted to Product No.1 (which co-incidentally comprises the other four) with the second page offering a free ebook extolling the virtues of the new package. Bearing in mind that this new parcel was disparate from my core produce I featured these additional pages with navigation buttons entitled ‘WHAT'S THIS?' and ‘AND THIS?' Then as belt and braces security so as not to confuse visitors I explained in a regular page why I was doing this by coming up front and confessing that I was test marketing.

What Rich Internet Marketers Know That You Don't

Thirty years ago, I sold information via small classified ads in "ad-sheets" on how to make money teaching others how to make money. We sent out these packets of flyers called "Big Mails." We sent them to people who answered out ads and sent us the postage or a self-addressed stamped envelope.

One of the most prevalent plans back then sold for $1. It offered to teach you how to make one hundred dollars a day stuffing envelopes. This plan cost you a dollar plus a self-addressed stamped envelope. When someone responded to your ad, you sent them a sheet of paper telling them to run the same ad and do the same things that you were doing. You also included flyers for other brilliant plans in the envelope :-)


Fast forward 25 years, and I found myself in that same world transposed online.

They were the same because in both cases I found myself in a world where there were tens of thousands of people offering to sell others information on how to finally break free of the rat-race and create their own outrageously profitable businesses.

They say it's easy! Anyone can do it!!

If you have been marketing on the internet for any length of time you have surely heard that reciprocal linking is a great way to boost your google page rank as well as your search engine ranking. But what does reciprocal linking actually mean?

There have been a lot of changes on the web since I wrote the first edition of "Power Linking Your Way to 1 Million Hits" in 2002. Back then I told everyone that the only thing that will never change, despite search engine shake-ups and search technology improvements, is that links will always be the most important part of any website promotion campaign.

In fact, the people best able to withstand major changes and shifts in the search engines that affect their rankings are the people who have a broad, multi-faceted marketing campaign.
