Consider This Before You Redesign Your Website

Many companies blame poor website traffic on the way their website is designed. If your website traffic is lacking and you are struggling to maintain your sales, it may be a combination of a poorly designed website and also the way in which you are marketing your website. A website design needs to be easy for the customers to navigate so they can find the information they are seeking in a timely manner. If customers are struggling to find the information they want, it causes them to go to other websites. When a person clicks on a pay per click ad, they expect to see that information on the site and will usually spend about 5 seconds or less browsing the site before they leave to pursue another site that has the information they want.

Set some goals
When you are looking to pay for a website redesign you need to take time to figure out what your goals are. You need to determine what you are willing to pay for and what type of results you would like to see from the website redesign. If you are planning to pay for a complete overhaul of your website you need to know what you would like your website to look like and you also need to determine what type of results you are hoping to get out of the site. Are you looking to get higher traffic from the redesign or would you like to focus your efforts on conversion instead? When you set goals, you need to clearly communicate them to the website designer so they can make it into a reality. It is their job to help you out with things like choosing colors, determining the navigation, logos to add, and many other little details. It's your job to create the content for the site. The designer will just control how it looks and how easy it is for the customers to find.

Shopping cart
How many online sales do you have? Are there some products that sell more than others? You need to look at your website shopping cart to see how easy it is to use. Customers want to be able to shop on a secured site but they want the entire process to be as easy as possible. You need to look at retooling your shopping cart in order to make it more user friendly. Focus on using things like package deals to help sell some of the products that are not as popular. When you combine them with popular products, it helps to clear them off your shelves faster. Make sure you are also offering your customers plenty of payment options so they can easily afford to purchase your products.

Competition
What are your competitors are doing? How much of your traffic are they taking? It may be a smart idea to consider adding a blog to your website. This can help you to consistently add new traffic to your site and to take some away from your competition. The blog needs to be informative and it needs to bring people to your site often. If the information is not engaging and helpful, they won't read it. Make sure your website designer also helps to create a unique blog for your company in order to boost your online credibility.

Marketing
How are you planning to market your website? Once you pay all the money to create a unique website you have to really look at what you are planning to do to make the website noticeable with the search engines. Pay per click is effective but you also need to consider other methods that can help you get noticed. It will take time to get your website ranking higher so you need to have patience and to continue working on your content daily to generate higher rankings.
