Tracking process flow to improve production speed
In order to begin tracking your process flow the first thing that you will need to do is fully understand what a process flow is. In manufacturing, the process flow is the stapes of a procedure that are used in making, delivering, or accomplishing a product or service. The process flow also includes the steps that influence the layout of your company and your decisions about technology, not to mention how your company works together. In order to build a strong company that has a competitive edge you need to realize that your process flow is a very strong aspect of how your company performs. You also need to realize that when applying the concept of process flow to a given procedure it can be classified as a job shop or flow shop. A job shop is very flexible and uses general resources, where a flow shop is not a very flexible procedure and only uses specialized resources.
Tracking your process flow to help improve your production speed works because when you begin to look at all of the individual departments of your company and how they are supposed to work together to get the job done, you might notice that one department in your company is slacking off. If only one department is slacking off this can reduce your production speed because it affects another department from doing there job, which in turn will affect the next department, and so on and so forth. In manufacturing when one department slacks off the effects of that snowball until the entire company is negatively affected because production speeds have been decreased. When this happens, nobody in the company is happy because everybody is passing the blame onto somebody else and your customers are not receiving their orders in a timely manner. By tracking your process flows you are going to be able to see where things are going wrong and in which department they are going wrong. Once you know where it is going wrong you will be able to direct your attention to that department to find out why things are going wrong and what can be done to fix the problem so that you can increase your production speed. The best way to go about tracking your process flows is to make a list of all the steps that need to be taken in order to make the product. Then you are going to want to go through those steps and write down how long it should take each department to complete each step. Once you have completed the list you are going to want to go and watch the departments and take notes about what is actually done and how long it really takes and anything else that is of importance. Once you have made your notes you are ready to make improvements to your production speeds. Search our site for more information: Rate This Post
