Mission and Purpose
In manufacturing quality assurance through statistical methods is a key element in organization. This is generally done by sampling random products and testing them for the most important things so that the end result is close to flawless. Statistical distributions are tracked and if there is a mistake it is fixed before the product is actually manufactured or produced. The hope in total quality management in manufacturing is that the products become cheaper to produce because of the efficiency and performance improvements. Key Characteristics Participative management- this refers to the involvement of every member of your company in the management process. In other words, managers will set your important policies and make important decisions with the input of those that have to adhere to those policies. This helps with motivation of company workers as they feel a part of the whole process, and helps upper management successful carry out their operation tasks. Continuous process improvement- this characteristic is simply recognizing small incremental gains towards your goal of reaching total quality. This is a manager's willingness to invest in the small things now in order to reap larger benefits in the future. It is a long-term approach. Utilization of teams- Team work is a necessity for the success of any company, and it is no different with total quality management. By taking this approach you enable your workers to understand their roles with the problems at hand, share knowledge, and align their work goals with the entire company.
