When it comes to business, success is very often a matter of who you know. The more varied your circle of acquaintances the more likely it is that you will know someone who is involved in a certain area when the need arises. Many new business owners underestimate the importance of marketing through social networks, but they soon find out that they are indeed a great marketing strategy.

Social networks have grown drastically in that last few years. This has made businesses realize that this could be the best place to advertise their business products and services on the internet sites. Today you can find many ways to market your products and services online. Today's most commonly used marketing networks are:
- Facebook
- Myspace
- Twitter
- Flickr
- Wikipedia
Social media marketing is all about reaching a target audience through these social networks or online communities. The methods range for placing ads to building niche content, focused around the promoted product or service. The goal is to directly reach your target audience as well as to gain a new audience and have them spread the word to people they know.

There are many different social marketing methods that you can use. Such as:

Blogging
Websites and blogs are one of the most powerful tools for social network marketing when matched with other networking tools. Blogs are an amazing tool which provides many other facilities in addition to just marketing your business. It will also help you to communicate with other clients in case you have any questions or concerns.

Article selling
This is also a great yet inexpensive media marketing method. It is a mode of advertising your trade just by writing articles and attracting endless number of users across the U.S. and the world.

Personal Website
It is important to have a private website if you are a freelancer. Your website will help your clients to know about you and it will make them clear that you are a serious freelance marketer and help to make huge revenue through media marketing.

Video promotion
You will want to use several video distribution websites for your marketing. A great example would be YouTube. These websites upload your service to the whole world. All you need to do is a film a video about your product or service and send it to the site. It seems that this method of marketing is the easiest way since people would rather view videos than read a word form of advertisement.

Email Sending
Email is another great and more personal way to market online. Collect a list of email addresses and email them about your business products and services. Your email should be attractive in such a way that the recipient will be impressed and get back to you.

Along with the different methods of marketing through social media, as a business owner you need to be prepared to spend a large amount of time keeping the website updated and the products and service updated as well. Many owners find that the idea of social media marketing is a great idea but are not prepared for the hours spent. Many of your audience will contact you with questions, or just simple suggestions and they will expect a response from you. You want to make sure you respond in a timely manner as to show you're serious about advertising on the website. As you will notice much of your audience will be on the social networks at least once a day if not more, and you should as well. If this is not ideal for you then it would be appropriate to schedule someone with in your business to keep a watch on the site and be responsible for the updating.
