How to end up on Oprah through great marketing

Most people have heard of the Oprah Winfrey show and many people dream about taking their message to the Oprah show. The reason that so many people want to take their message to the Oprah show is because of how popular the Oprah show is, basically if you get on the Oprah show you are going to have some kind of a success with your business. But because of how many people want to be on the Oprah show it is actually rather hard to get on the Oprah show even with great marketing.

Difficulty rating: Moderately difficult to difficult

Step one:
The first thing that you are going to need to do is to prepare yourself for being on the Oprah show. The best way to do that is to watch the Oprah show for yourself so that you can get an idea of what is going to be hot on the Oprah show the next few months. This will also allow you to get familiar with the different producers and what types of segments they are responsible for. If you don't currently watch the Oprah show on a daily basis what you are going to need to do is to tape the show for about four weeks and then sit down and watch all of the episodes at once so you know what to watch.

Step two:
After watching the show and getting familiar with the producers what you are going to need to do is to figure out which producer you are going to want to send information to and why you want to use that producer. But this doesn't mean to send the information yet, all you are doing is preparing to send the information.

Step three:
Now what you are going to want to do is to come up with a hot topic that you can pitch to the producer. No matter how tempting it is you want to stay away from your product and yourself when trying to get on the Oprah show. What you are going to want to do is to pitch something that is newsworthy now and that will catch Oprah's audiences' attention. Once you pitch the topic you are going to want to make sure that you prove you are the expert on that topic by only giving the information that is relevant to that topic.

Step four:
Now you are going to want to put together a winning press package to send in with the hot topic that you are pitching. What you are going to want to do is to send in an article about your product along with a pitch or angle page with two or three different ideas. You are also going to want to include a paragraph or two about why you are an expert on the pitch you are proposing. Keep in mind that you only want this package to be one page, so keep it brief and to the point.

Step five:
Make sure that you take a look at Oprah's website. This website will give you plenty of information about how to get on the show and what you are going to need to do or have to get on the show. The website will also allow you to send an email directly to her producers. If you want a quick response make sure your topic is only about a paragraph long.

Step six:
You are also going to want to create six dynamic sound bites. Basically what these sound bites are going to do is to show the producers that you would make a viable guest for the show. Something to keep in mind when creating the sound bites is that they are the messages that you are trying to convey. You are going to want to record the most important ideas, concepts, and points of your topic as they relate to the idea that you are pitching.

Step seven:
But before you even approach the Oprah show what you are going to want to do is get booked on your local talk shows and news shows first. This will help you prepare yourself for being on national television, not to mention it will give you a chance to get some really good sound bites.
