7 tips to network your technology

There is no point in having a network if it is not usable.Take a look at these tips when you are setting up your network. They will help you make sure your network is usable.

Tip #1 -
The first thing you need to do decide which type of network you want: wired or wireless. If you have a fairly large area to cover, it would be a good idea to get wireless. That way you don't have to deal with a ton of wires. If you choose to go with a wired network, you will be dealing with cables.A wired network would be a good option if all of the computers and devices on your network are in the same room.Wired networks perform faster than wireless networks, although wireless networks are more accessible and mobile.Decide which type of network will work best for you.

Tip #2 -
The second thing you need to do is set up a router in order to network. The router needs to be in a good central location. If you are networking over a large area, you might need to get more than one router to avoid "dead spots" (places where the network doesn't work).Make sure you set up a firewall on your router(s).This will help control the information that is coming in and out of your network. You want to keep your network as secure as possible and setting up a firewall is one of the best ways to do that.

Tip #3 -
After your router is set up, you will need to make sure each computer is connected to the router. If you have a wired network, every single computer will need a cord connecting to the router. If you have a wireless network, every computer will need to be connected to the router wirelessley to be able to access the network.

Tip #4 -
Make sure all other devices (besides computers) that you are using in your network are properly connected to your network. You can set up printers, scanners, and other devices to your network.Test them to make sure they are working properly.Make sure updates are made when they need to be made. This will keep your network functioning efficiently.

Tip # 5 -
Protect your network. If you have the Internet on your network, you need to set up anti-spyware on each computer. This will help from personal information getting leaked out of your network. You will also need to set up anti-virus software on each computer.Make sure you are doing everything you can to keep your network secure and safe. You also need to regularly update this software to make sure you are staying up to date with the newest forms of keeping your computer safe. There are so many viruses that are out there that can completely destroy your network and cause you to lose everything. To protect the information on your network, you should make back-up copies of everything.

Tip #6 -
In order to have a "usable" network, people need to actually use the network. If may be ready to use, but if no one is using it, it does no good.Training needs to be provided.People who use the network need to be aware of the possible dangers of using a network (in particular, getting a virus) and how careful they need to be.It is also a good idea to have people that are using the network sign a network agreement, saying they will abide by the rules and not do anything to damage the network.

Tip #7 -
Regularly update programs on your network.Updates will increase efficiency and it will keep your network secure and usable. You can set your computer to do automatic updates, so you don't have to worry about anything. You can also pick optional updates you want.It all depends on the programs you are using and the upgrades that you think you need.
