AOL Filing Cabinet
Some people find it confusing to imagine a filing cabinet on your computer. It is actually the same concept as the filing cabinet in your office. It too has drawers with file folders inside. Within those folders there might be more folders and files. You can refer to the top of your filing cabinet as a Desktop and the cabinet itself as "My Computer." To make things easy you might letter or number your drawers just like you would your home filing cabinet. Letter "A" could be the floppy drive, "B" the hard drive, "C" the hard drive, "D" the CD-ROM drive, etc. Doesn't this sound simple?
Don't just set up folders for yourself. Others in your family will enjoy having their own folders. Set them up for everyone in the family. This will help them become organized as well. Be sure to personalize you Filing Cabinet by creating several folders and giving them names that you want. Be creative when naming your files as this will help you locate information in a timely manner. When the information in your folders are no longer needed, be sure to delete the entire folder. It is also possible to move information to other folders or change your folders so they are organized better in your Filing Cabinet. For instance - If you want to move some of your e-mail messages to another folder, all you have to do is open the folder that holds the information you would like to move. Click on the information you want to move and while holding the mouse button down you can drag the message to another folder and then drop it. It will fall into that folder automatically. Always remember to backup you filing cabinet. You don't want to lose your saved e-mail messages. This is easy to do. First you will click on the Mail menu, then Mail Settings. When you get the Mail Settings window, click on the Manage Saved Mail button and then click the Backup button. Be sure to click on the Save button. Making a Backup copy of your Personal Storage acts as a safeguard to your saved e-mail messages. Just in case you experience problems with your Filing Cabinet, having a backup copy of your Personal Storage will let you restore your saved messages. You cannot back up your Filing Cabinet unless you are signed off of AOL. People everywhere have now become almost completely paperless. Not only in the business world, but also at home. You can become better organized and efficient by setting yourself up with a computer filing system. With this computer storage system you will have access to information at the click of a button.
