How to alert your subscribers of a new videocast posting

So, you have a new video cast posting, and you want to let people know that it is available, but you aren't sure how. So, how do you alert your subscribers, and others, of a new video cast posting?

It is easy. Because they are your subscribers, you likely have their email address, so what you can do to let them know of a new video cast posting, is send out a mass email. You will wan to set up your program so that this email is automatic, this will save you time and money. You can just have a feature with your software you purchase to run your video casting that allows for an automatically generated email for each new posting.

When you send out one of these mass emails to alert your subscribers of a new video cast posting there are a few things you will want to include:

1. A catchy subject line. For many, your mass email will get sent right to their junk mail box, and so, you want to make sure that when they check their junk mailbox for things that aren't junk, that they open your email. So, make sure they know who you are, and why you are sending them an email. For example, if your video casting site is named VLOG 101, then when you have a new video cast posted, your email should read, "New posting for VLOG 101". So make sure that you have a link, and check it out, if it is not working, then you need to recreate it so that it does work. Do not just give directions for where to go, or how to find it, provide the ability.
4. Keep it short. You do not want people to get annoyed with your email announcements, and your best bet for keep them happy is to be short and to the point. If you do this, people will continue to open and read your email announcements, and visit your video cast.

Believe it or not, most pod casts and video cast sites have subscribers, even if it is free, so if you do not have one, you should, this is the best way to collect the information you need to be able to alert your viewers of new postings. People will subscribe to your site and part of doing so will include them providing an active email address so that you can contact them. Once you have that you are set. So, you can alert these subscribers by having an automatically generated mailing list announcement that goes out with each new post. It is worth repeating that this announcement should have a link to the video cast, or at least a link to the site that has it, not just directions of how to get the new posting.
