LCD versus plasma big screens

With the advances in technology, sometimes it can be hard to know what the best technology is to purchase. It really can be overwhelming sometimes, when you are looking at all of your different technological options! For example, many people are confused when it comes to buying a television - should they get a plasma screen or an LCD TV? These are two different types of technologies, and they both have similar features. LCD and plasma screens are being sold at comparative prices, and they are being produced in similar sizes as well! These different screens also come in similar packages and casing, which makes the decision process even more difficult! In addition, both plasma and LCD screens focus on having color-filled pictures with bright, crisp images. The main difference is that plasma screens are composed of individual pixel units, whereas LCD screens are composed of liquid/crystal cells that react to electrical charges. However, there are more differences between LCD and plasma screens. Here are a couple of things that ARE different between LCD and plasma big screens, so that you can make a better decision when you go to buy your next TV!

1) Contrast Levels: If you are interested in getting the highest levels of contrast between your blacks and whites, you will probably be interested in getting a plasma screen. This technology really has perfected the best levels of contrast between the darkest black and the lightest white. LCD companies are really trying to improve their contrast technology to compete with plasma big screens, but they still haven't quite perfected their contrast levels yet. The contrast levels of LCD screens don't compare with plasma, especially if you are watching you the screen from an off-axis angle. Go with a plasma screen instead. If you are a fan of the silver screen, then you really should consider getting a plasma big screen! This way, you'll be able to capture all of the black and white images in the highest, crispest contrasts possible!
2) Color accuracy: The color accuracy of your plasma or LCD screen actually will primarily depend on the type of room which you will be viewing your television set. For example, LCD screens tend to work better than plasma screens if they are placed in a brightly lit room. This is because LCD screens have anti-glare technology. In contrast, plasma screens work better if your television set is placed in a darkly lit room. The richness and diversity of plasma screens (which work with over 16 million colors!) can best be appreciated in this darker light.
3) Angles: The way that your television will be viewed will also affect whether you should buy an LCD or a plasma screen. Plasma companies have focused on making the viewing angles for their screens up to about 160 degrees, which is really as good as you can get! LCD screens to not have this same angle capacity, which also is obvious in the earlier "Contrast Levels" section of this article, which explains that LCD screens do not work well when they are seen off-axis. LCD screens instead usually support about 120 and 130 degree angles. If you are planning on watching your TV from an angle, then you might want to consider getting a plasma big screen instead!
As you can see, there are a couple of differences between LCD and plasma screens! Both of these screens are great options, but generally plasma screens are found to be technologically superior. However, LCD screen manufacturers are close behind the plasma screen market, and they soon could catch up (or even get ahead) of plasma big screens!
