There are both pros and cons of digital photography.Knowing these advantages and disadvantages can help you decide whether or not you actually want a digital camera, and what the possibilities and limitations of digital photography are.

Digital cameras are incredibly popular, and for great reasons. They make taking good pictures much easier for those of us who aren't particularly creative or who aren't pros when it comes to working with cameras.Digital cameras are fun to play with, they make creativity possible, and they are a great and easy way to share your photos with others! But there are limitations and advantages to digital photography and using digital cameras instead of the traditional film cameras.

Pros of digital photography
Digital photography has a number of great advantages over traditional film photography. Some of the advantages include greater control over quality and creativity, convenience, fun, and flexibility.

  • Greater creative control One of the greatest pros of using digital photography and making use of digital cameras is the amount of creative control that you have over your photos. If you use traditional film photography, then you won't be able to manipulate your photos as easily as you can with digital photography. With digital photos, you can just upload your photos to your computer, correct the color, crop the photo, zoom in on places that you want, fix red eye, and add any other special effects that you want!
  • Sharing your photos with others becomes a piece of cake
One of the great things about digital photography is how easy it is to share your photos with friends, family, and online.Instead of having to spend time searching for negatives and taking the negatives back to the photo developer, you can simply click, print, email, or upload your photos. In just seconds, you can share your memories with your loved ones, or post them on your blog.
  • Digital photography is more fun
One of the greatest pros of digital photography is how much fun you can have with your photos. With all of the different photo editing programs that are out there, you can apply all sorts of special effects to your photos. You can change your photos to black and white, to sepia tone, and then back to color. You can change the style of the photo so that it looks like a pencil sketch or a watercolor. You can also paint your own jokes onto your photo.
  • Use your photos for all different products
Another pro to digital photography is that you can upload your photos and print them on your calendars, your mugs, your T-shirts, and whatever else you want.

Downsides to digital photography

There are still some cons to digital photography. Here's what the most common downsides to digital cameras are.

  • Low resolution Digital cameras don't provide the same level of resolution as do traditional film cameras. To get resolution that comes close to film resolution, you will need to purchase a high end camera. However, if you don't need professional-level photo resolution, you don't need to purchase a really expensive camera.A lower level resolution should be good enough for most people.
  • Shutter delay
Digital cameras take a few seconds between pressing the button and saving the image to memory. This means that it takes a little bit of time between photos, and you can't just click away. This distance between photos makes it much more difficult to photograph your son's football game.
  • The learning curve
Another downside to digital photography is the learning curve that is required. You will have to learn how to use a particular piece of equipment. You will have to get used to the different settings and how to use those settings and modes to produce the best photos.
