Choosing a great coach for your staff

coworkers23120152.jpg Many companies send their employees off to training seminars and conferences for 10 days or longer. A training program will allow your employee to learn and perfect their skills. It's a great way to boost morale within the company and its also an effective way to increase production and job satisfaction. Since the sting of the economy is hitting companies all over, it is common now to see coaches come into the company to work closely with a team or department to help them learn how to perfect their skills. Choosing the right coach for your staff is a very tricky process and it needs to be done with a lot of research and interviewing to find the right person. Here are different types of coaches and how they can help.

Management Coach
All types of managers exist and not all of them use the same strategy. Some managers are great when it comes to people skills but they may lack when it comes to perfecting the bottom line. Then other managers are so stuck on numbers and paper that they completely ignore the people working for them, leading to an unhealthy working environment. Coaches will come in and shed new light on the different management styles and possibly open the eyes of your managers to a new world and show them that there is a different way. The coach will work with one person or with a few people to train them in this new style and then they will be responsible for training others. It's a simple process and it does work effectively. Here are some of the biggest advantages to coaching:

  • It will foster a stronger working relationship between employees and specifically between managers and employees.

  • The manager will be able to receive feedback directly from their employees and will be able to understand how to change things and make them better for everyone.

  • It allows managers to break out of their shells and to try out new things that will be better for the entire organization.

Employee Coach
As the manager is able to learn new skills and perfect them, the employees will also be able to learn new skills. Their skills will work specifically with the relationship they have with vendors and customers. Fostering healthier relationships with them will bring about a productive working environment but it is less likely to deal with angry and upset customers. Not only will they be coached on how to work with the customers and to create better relationships they will also be trained on how to do their jobs better and effectively. Things like learning how to organize their workstations will be implemented along with time management and other things. Doing this will make them happier in their jobs and less likely to become frustrated with management as they are able to develop new communication techniques that will help them to open up to their managers.

Company Coach
After everyone has dealt with coaching in their individual areas, you need the coaches to work with the entire company. They will help to identify some of the biggest problems you are having and to help you solve them. Typically these are internal problems that stem down to poor communication, improper time management, and cluttered working environments. The problems are usually easy but trying to identify them can be a big challenge for a lot of companies. Make sure the coaches have the resources and access they need to the company in order to actually help you. The program costs will be worth it once you are able to see the many great benefits that coaching can have on your organization.
