GPS Units

clock63312045.jpgWhen GPS units first came out, they ran for upwards of $500. Now for about $99 you can purchase a quality GPS unit and never get lost again. GPS is short for Global Positioning System. It finds your location using a high-frequency radio finder. Pretty much every type of handheld device features a GPS unit. You can download a GPS feature to your cell phone or to your PDA. This is a great way to find where you are at when you in a different city or you can use it to help you perform your job easier (think pizza delivery).

If you need to use your device, you simply click on the button to activate it and then input the address where you need to go. Your service provider will automatically locate you and help you find your way to where you need to be.

GPS units can be used to help find your children if they run off at the park (of course you will need a hookup to your computer to find them). They can help you find your way back to camp if you get lost while hiking. And they can help you find your way around an unfamiliar city.

So why do you need a GPS device? Here are some compelling reasons:

  • A GPS helps to reduce your business and personal loss. If you own a company that focuses on delivery of goods and services, you need to be on time when you are trying to locate this area. A GPS device can help your drivers find the exact location of their deliveries.

  • GPS units help to prevent theft from occurring. If someone breaks into your truck and takes off with it, you can track the whereabouts of the truck with the GPS device. You can alert the authorities and you will have back all of your inventory and your vehicle.

  • GPS devices help you manage your business shipments properly. You can track where each of your drivers are and give your customers real-time estimates as to when they can expect their delivery. Another great feature of GPS devices is that you can check the actual mileage of your drivers so you know exactly how far they are driving and if their gas receipts add up appropriately.

  • Insurance companies are offering lower rates to customers that have GPS devices. This is because it helps to reduce theft and loss recovery. The risk is lowered so the insurance company is willing to give back some of the savings to their customers.

  • For business owners, the GPS device can help them manage and control their inventory as their business grows. Since you will have multiple assets to gain control of, you need to have something that can keep track of their movements. Having a GPS unit with your assets will let you know where they are at all the time.

  • You can find your way if you get lost somewhere. Most GPS devices will re-route your course if you take a wrong turn.

  • Hiking GPS devices can help you get back to camp by tracking your starting location and helping you find your way back here by re-tracing your steps.

  • GPS devices can help you find your children and others if they get lost. Child location devices are an invaluable asset to have in today's world, especially if you live in an area with a high rate of kidnappings.

GPS units are almost a must-have in today's electronic-driven world. Some cars will come installed with GPS devices or you can purchase a handheld GPS unit.
