There are so many ways in which your business will be able to increase profits but the majority of it will come down to how well you work and creating a lean manufacturing environment. There are several things that you can do to increase profits, one is by revamping your marketing program to find a way to attract new customers and the other is by using a program that will help you to reduce costs and avoid wastes. Lean manufacturing is one of the common processes that is used by Toyota and many other companies. The goal is to reduce wastes and to increase productivity for the company. According to Toyota and the process of lean manufacturing there are about 7 wastes that you may encounter. These wastes are as follows:

1. Overproduction
2. Motion (too much movement of machinery or of your employees)
3. Product defects
4. Inventory
5. Waiting
6. Transportation
7. Processing

These 7 wastes can be identified and then eliminated from the company, leaving you with an increase in production, better products, and a smooth working environment. Many companies that implement are able to see that their employees are happier in their jobs and that they are able to reduce the overhead costs of the company dramatically.

How can you implement lean manufacturing into your organization? There are 4 ways in which you can do this. Follow these simple steps:
1. Identify wastes. When you look at the 7 wastes above you will be able to see what they are within your company. For most companies, just identifying the wastes will give them a huge cost savings for the organization and can make it much easier to improve their organization and have better products and services.
2. What is causing the waste? As you seek out what the wastes are, your next step is to find out what is behind the wastes. Perhaps it is your employees that are causing the wastes or it could be your machinery that is causing waste. It is important that you look at all of the various factors that could be leading to waste for the company and to then focus on removing them from the organization.
3. Choose a solution that will work for your organization. This is where lean manufacturing works but it's also where you can see how you can make an impact for the company. Typically companies will choose a method that has been proven and one that will work for many years. It is vital that you have patience when it comes to lean manufacturing. This is because it takes a year or more for you to be able to improve the company and to properly implement everything correctly such as training of your employees and fixing the system.
4. Consistency. For the program to work, you have to remain committed to it and you must be consistent. It is vital that you have everyone in the company working on the program and believing in it. The process is going to take commitment from everyone in order for it to work. If it falls in a single area, it can lead to failure for the company. It is always important to look at the program and to see what the bigger picture will be. This is how you can see how the company will grow and develop and where it's headed instead of just focusing on things right now. The problems at hand are concerning but you also need to know that lean manufacturing is going to be something that solves long term solutions and not just the short term concerns.
