What to know about mobile users
1. Mobile screens are smaller- This means that you have to create a more memorable marketing message that fits in less space. Often QR codes are a great way to give the information you need to your consumers without taking up too much space or cluttering their already too small screen. If they want more product detail or information they can use the QR code to get it. Designing a mobile marketing strategy that recognizes that a small screen is what you have to work with. 2. Mobile speeds are slower- You do not want to include too much stuff that takes too long to load, as your average mobile user is not going to wait for it. Many mobile devices are web capable, but they don't exactly load at high speeds. Having too much information, high graphics, or too much video content, etc. your user may lose patience and not wait for your page to load. Create mobile pages, and mobile marketing messages that can be delivered quickly with the slower speeds available on mobile devices. 3. Your reader has less time, and is more easily distracted- This means that the information you provide them with needs to be pertinent, and it needs to be great. There is no room for fluff, as they are not likely to use their mobile device to do much surfing, rather they will look up specific things, and get on and off quickly. They want to have answers, etc. quickly without distracting elements. 4. Readers want more information, faster- They want to be able to get the thing they are looking for as quickly as possible without distractions. This means when creating your marketing messages, you have to deliver small nuggets of information that are high quality, and that can be packaged individually, and delivered faster. There are some great tools that can help you offer your mobile users more with less space taken up, and at faster speeds. Learning to use those adequately, programming your code well, and providing your information to your users well. Knowing who you are contacting and what they want is a key part of every kind of marketing, and this is true of mobile marketing as well. There are over 250 million cell phone users in the US, and over 75 million of those use smart phones. Mobile marketing is a huge area that you should be targeting, but you need to do your market research and understand what your consumers want, and how they want it packaged and delivered. |
