You need to define the customers so you know who you are working with and you must be able to include their shopping patterns in your dissection of the industry. What does B2C stand for exactly? B2C is when you are marketing on a business to consumer base. It sounds pretty much like other marketing strategies right? Well the big difference is that you actually focus on the customer and building relationships with them instead of always doing a business to business (B2B) marketing approach.

Marketing to a consumer market is quite different as you might find yourself doing a lot of door to door selling and customer interaction. It's not common for marketers to go out and "get dirty" sometimes so this may be an adjustment for your team but it is something that they will appreciate if you are able to do it right as you can build long-lasting and rewarding customer relationships.

Stay focused on the customer. Being customer-oriented will pay off for you big time as you develop marketing messages and other things for them. You will address the concerns of the customers and then show them how your product is perfect for their situation. When they are able to see how your products are able to give them the things that they need, it is easy for them to purchase from you. Don't focus as much on the profit as you need to focus specifically on the customer.

How do customers shop for your products? They are emotional shoppers! This is quite common for just about every company. People will always shop with their emotions so you need to create marketing messages that are emotional and get the consumer to make their buying decision on an emotional level. As you can do this, your customers will be able to start appreciating you and they will be able to build up with customer loyalty, which is something that you can work years to acquire.

There are several ways to reach out to your customers when you are turning to B2C. First, take a look at social media. Your customers are social creatures and they are going to use social media to stay connected. You need to use social media to spread the word and to appeal to your customers on an emotional level. Referrals will help you as well when you are looking to find new customers for your company. Look for ways to drive traffic to your website. This can be through the use of pay per click campaigns and other programs like video blogging and podcasting.
