Mobile marketing has become an exciting, new way for businesses to promote their products and services. Businesses that choose to use this type of marketing can directly interact with their customers, as they send messages and other types of marketing materials, directly to their phones or other handheld devices. One of the major benefits of using this type of marketing is the high response rate. Tech experts are predicting that within the next few years, more people will turn to their phones or other mobile devices, rather then their computer, for marketing and purchasing information. This makes it even more crucial that businesses take advantage of this creative and innovative type of marketing.

Because of the newness of mobile marketing, it is important that every business owner educate themselves about this form of marketing. Understanding the ins and outs of it, will allow you to make the best decision, on what form to use, how much to spend, and how to set it up. Once you have mastered the basics of mobile marketing and fully integrated it into your marketing plan, then you can move onto using in other aspects of your marketing. It is important, however, that business owners understand that they should not rely on mobile marketing, as the only arm of their marketing message. It is still important that they diversify their marketing message, in order to have the most effective marketing. Here are some things you should know about mobile marketing-
- Consider blending your social media marketing with your mobile marketing-There are great ways that you blend these two different kinds of marketing, to deliver your message even more effectively. You can use both Twitter and Facebook to interact with your target market, through whatever mobile device they are using. Try to be creative on how you do this. Remember, that you want to engage your customers, so consider giving them a chance to be interactive, by entering contest, voting in pools, posting reviews or uploading pictures.
- Make sure that all of your business listings are accurate and current-This is important since local search can be so expansive. You want to make sure that users can easily find you through their mobile marketing. One of the first things that you should do is to claim your business listing on Google, and you should also make sure that your business is listed on Gowalla and Foursquare, if applicable. In addition, do not overlook your Chamber of Commerce listing (provided that you are a member).
- Design your website so that it is mobile friendly-It is important to keep in mind that while your website may be awesome when it is viewed with a Web browser on a computer, that doesn't mean it will work on a mobile device. Many business owners have been surprised to see that their website is almost unusable when it comes to using it on a mobile device. It is crucial that you find what you need to do in order to make sure that your website can be viewed the way you want it to be, when it is displayed on a phone or other handheld device. You also need to make sure that all of your product information is fully displayed on your website. This should include product numbers, model numbers, product descriptions and even customer reviews. Keep in mind that your customers are using their phones more and more to find information, even when they are standing in your stores. You want to make sure that you are easily providing them with the information that they are seeking.
