Pros and cons of LCD technology

LCD technology is one of the popular forms of technology today.LCD stands for Liquid Crystal Display, and you can find LCD screens on all types of technological equipment. For example, televisions and digital cameras are two devices which often (but not always!) have LCD screens. The way LCD screens work is through liquid crystal cells which react to electrical charges and surges. The reaction of the liquid crystal and electricity causes a bright, clear image to appear on your LCD screen! There are lots of pros and cons to having LCD technology. Here are some of the good and bad things about LCD screens:

1) PRO - Bright color:One of the great things about LCD screens is that it allows for very bright colors to appear on your screen. The brilliancy and clearness of the LCD images are just as nice as the images which appear through other types of technology, such as plasma technology. Many people prefer to use LCD screens because of the bright colors which are created!
2) PRO - Competitive prices:Another great thing about LCD technology is that the prices to purchase it are very competitive.Today, you can buy really nice LCD screens for reasonable prices. Many people prefer to use LCD technology because of its affordable and competitive prices. For example, the prices between an LCD television screen and a plasma screen are relatively similar.

3) CON - Axial viewing:One of the most unfortunate downsides to LCD screens is that they are configured really for relatively axial viewing. If you look at an LCD screen from a side angle (or off-axis), you will lose a lot of the color and contrast vibrancy. The widest angles that LCD screens can be seen are from about 120 to 130 degrees. In contrast, plasma screens can be seen from an 160 degree angle, which is about as wide as a viewing angle can get!The limitations of angles for LCD screens really should be taken into consideration, especially if you are going to be viewing your LCD technological device at an angle.
4) CON - Poor contrast levels:Another downside to LCD technology is that the color contrast levels are not very high.If you are trying to get the blackest blacks and the whitest whites possible, you do not want to get an LCD screen.Plasma screens are better configured for high color contrast levels, particularly because plasma technology works with over 16 million different colors! At this point, the LCD technology is not perfected enough to reach these high color contrasts.
5) PRO - Anti-glare technology:Another great feature with LCD screens is that they are inherently anti-glare by nature. This is one reason why LCD technology works so well in outdoor environments (such as on digital cameras that are meant to be used outdoors), because the screens can still be seen clearly and easily, even in brightly lit circumstances. If you are interested in using LCD technology in a brightly lit place, then you really should go ahead and do it!People who have their LCD television screens in brightly lit places have reported to be very happy with the quality of their screens.Really, no other display technology really gets as good of an anti-glare effect as LCD!

There really are a lot of great things about LCD technology, but as you can see, there are also some cons to LCD technology as well.If you are deciding to use LCD technology, you should really have a specific idea in mind for what you would like to do.LCD technology works its best in specific situations (such as in brightly lit spaces) and you will want to consider that before purchasing your LCD item!If you have other questions about LCD technology and products, you can consult a product specialist regarding the item you are interested in using.
