Building an online presence comes down to understanding how to market your company properly along with understanding how you can build a stronger reputation online. To have a social media campaign that is able to work properly there are 3 components that must become part of it:

These three things combined will allow you to reach out to your customers and to truly strengthen your reputation with them. Every part of your social media campaign needs to be well thought out in order to respond to your customers needs and also to ensure that your customers are able to understand the information you are posting. Check the verbiage of your tweets and Facebook posts carefully in order to ensure they are credible and that your customers can understand them.

When you are creating a marketing agenda for social media sites it is important to understand that you will focus primarily on relationship building. You will develop conversations with the customers rather than just telling them something. Your tweets are created in order to gather information back from the customers. You will be able to take the information that they send to you and use it to your advantage. This way you are able to capture the information and create better products for them along with developing stronger marketing messages for the future.

As you are marketing to your customers you need to ask yourself the following questions:
1. How influential are we to the customers?
2. What are our customers saying about us?
3. Are customers saying positive or negative things about our company? (Do a Google search to find out)
4. What channels are being used in order to funnel information about your company?

The biggest thing to remember with social media marketing is that you need to focus on customer service. You have to be able to listen to your customers and really take what they are saying into mind so you can build a relationship with them. Listening to the customers will go a long way to help you create the right type of relationship you want to become successful with social media marketing and also to be successful with online customer service as well. When you have a Facebook page and a Twitter page you are able to have a chance to create conversations with your customers and to become proactive in introducing products and your brand to them.

Use the social media sites to track what your customers are saying. Facebook will provide you with advertising programs you can use and they also provide you with insight as to what your customers are viewing when you post on your account. Having these types of statistics to use will make it much easier for you to be able to create stronger messages in the future.

What platform have your designed your social media site on? It will look quite different on Twitter than it will on Facebook and you also have different niche markets that are on the two social media sites. It is a good idea to participate in both sites and also to participate in YouTube video blogging as well. This way you have a great way to reach out to your customers all the way around and to have a social presence instead of always a business presence. Watch your competition on social media pages as well in order to see what they are saying and to make sure you are providing your customers with value.
