You need to make sure that you identify the competition that is already positioned within your niche market. Trying to keep up with larger businesses is just a fast way to take your business under. You need to focus on your existing customer base, and grow it, from your potential target market. Once you can clearly identify who your competition really is, this will be a lot easier to accomplish.
• Focus on networking-If you are already networking, then you are doing one of the most effective things there is to grow your business. There are plenty of different ways to network. First and foremost, you should always carry a business card with you, so that you are always ready to pass on your business information with anyone who may be interested. Keep in mind that even if they are no directly interested in your business, they may know someone who would be. There are other effective ways to network, as well. Attending trade shows, conferences and being active in your local business alliance are all great ways to network. You also need to get to know other business owners, who can provide you with resources that you may not have even thought of.
• Offer the highest level of customer service-One of the most effective ways to grow your business, is to let each and every customer know how much you appreciate them. Studies have shown that a large percentage of customers will return to a particular store or site, simply because of the customer service that was offered them. Best of all, these same customers report that they return to buy again, even though the price that was being charged, for the product or service, was not the lowest! If you take the time to get to know your customers needs, wants and interests and form a relationship with them, you will have a much better chance of retaining them as long term customers. The bottom line is that when you have a base of long term and loyal customers, you have growth, for your business.
• Get an online presence-If you don’t have an online presence, for your business, then you need to get one today! If you have an online presence, for your business, then you need to expand it. Today, a majority of business marketing is being done online. Business owners that are not taking advantage of this are missing out on a significant opportunity, to grow their business. You should have an easy to use and easy to find website that will allow your customers to quickly see what you have to offer them. In addition, you can link your website, to a business blog and other social media sites that will give you a significant online presence. Through the use of online marketing, you can position yourself as the leader in your industry, which means that customers will turn to you, and your business, when they are looking for a solution, to a need or want.
