Computer Maintenance Tips
There are some very easy things that people can do to help their computer keep running at a speed that lets them browse multiple web sites at a time, stream movies, play video games and keep up with all of the news. The first thing is to run and maintain a virus program.Viruses, Trojan horses, malware, spyware and adware can all be programs that slow down a computer and make its performance less than what it was when it was purchased.A good virus protection program will do more than just keep the computer from getting a virus, it will also protect against the other outside threats to the computer. Computers may get slow because the memory is being wasted.People should look through the list of programs under the programs module in the control program. This is the module that gives the option to uninstall programs. Those programs that are no longer used should be uninstalled. It is important to be sure to create a restore point in case a program that is essential to the computer is uninstalled by accident. The restore point will be able to recover that file. Defragmentation is a program that should be run on a regular basis. It does take time to do so, but its function makes it worth it.Defragmentation takes programs that are similar and groups them together. This allows the hard drive to run faster. The easiest way to find the disk defragmenter is to type defrag in the search bar under the all programs menu option. For Windows, it is marked by the Windows logo in the tool bar. Some computers have an available tune-up program recommended by the manufacturer. The tune-up will automatically run unless it is manually delayed by the user at the time of notification that it will run.Allowing the tune-up to run is a great idea for continued maximum performance.Like any vehicle, a tune-up keeps the computer running well.Regular computer maintenance will keep the computer running well enough that it will continue to be a source of joy rather than a source of frustration. |
